A bi question
I only realized this a few years ago but why do some people that are non and surprisingly also part of LGBTQ+ hate bisexuals? I'm genuinely confused because why chose which gender you are attracted to if you can have both? (more people for you that's a win win for me) I don't hear people hating on pansexuals but I keep seeing things like 'you can't be a bisexual, you're either straight or gay.' I heard somewhere that they hate them bc bi's believe that there's only 2 genders (how the heck did they conclude that?)
I remember when DC canonically change Tim Drake's (3rd Robin) sexuality as bisexual and they change his girlfriend with a boy and it made me '???' you know you didn't have to change his girlfriend to a guy for people to know he's bi or part of the lgbtq+. That also applies in shipping fandoms like 'he's not bi because she/he's dating the opposite gender. That means he's straight!' It's ok to have your hc but some people do be hating on people having a hc/oc that the character is bi but dates the opposite gender. I'm not really a person who engages deeply in communities/fandoms but I do see some of them sometimes. I'm curious why and sorry if it sounds rude(?)
Because they just can't grasp the fact u just like both. You for some reason need to prove your sexuality nowadays, I've come across these ppl irl whenever I mention I'm not straight, they think I wanna be some gay twink man or I'm lying bec I had GFs before. Which is where bisexuals two time hate came from. reply
I think the main issue stems from the fact that they're attracted to the opposite gender, and more stigma is pushed when they have a partner of the opposite sex as well, their sexuality is seen as a performance and a middle ground between social conformity and deviance + i think bi women with male partners experience bi phobia from the LGBT communi...... 2 reply
I have heard that whole “bi people are only pretending because they’re afraid to admit they’re gay.” Which is a very stupid thought to have, and you mentioned pansexuals. I think the reason it doesn’t seem like they get as much hate is because I think pansexuality is a newer term that many people don’t know about and probably most of th...... 1 reply
Nah this is fr tho. I'm really tired of the LGBTQ community these days, especially on the internet. Seems like everyone is obsessed with putting labels on people, you need to either this or that and ignoring that sexuality can't even be defined no matter how many labels and genders you come up with. It's getting hella confusing lmao. Someone called...... 2 reply
some queer people hates bi bc of insecurities I think. from what I've seen, lesbian hates bi girls bc they're afraid bisexual will cheat on them with the opposite sex to avoid the consequences of being queer. this can be said to gay men too ofc. I say lesbian bc the first day of pride month big lesbian acc on twitter is the one stirring up biphobia...... reply
biphobia from straight people doesn't surprise me but it's actually just idiot behaviour from gay people. why are you treating bisexuals (or even nonbinary or trans people) the same way heterosexuals treat you? do you not realise the hypocrisy?
p.s. i actually really like bernard dowd a lot. i won't fight with you on why they made tim break up wit...... reply
I remember that one of my friends didn't think I was bi because I didn't look bi.. Like, how are bi people suppose to look?? I didn't know that bi people have a certain appearance, do they expect me to wear pink, purple and blue all the time or smth?? reply
It's just mad weird to be honest if someone hates my sexuality because of that. Not to mention people are fucking dumb as hell for thinking that liking the opposite gender means im "back to being straight" or i was "pretending to be bi" because apparently if you dont dress or look like one then you'll be thrown in the spaceship like you're some imp...... reply
I don’t have an answer for why but I’ll just add my thoughts
Even on this website I’ve seen this kind of biphobia
Also ironic that a family member of mine is literally so supportive of lgbtq+ in general but then turns around and says “bisexuality doesn’t exist - they’re just gay ppl in denial” ???? Bruh, of all the sexualities I co...... 2 reply
