why do people who read weird taboo things get SOOOO defensive when someone says something slightly irked or even just hating. i get u like reading smth weird like for ex incest (do ur own thing ig…) but dont complain when people are hating on something openly weird??? like i js commented i didnt know smthing was incest even tho it was in the title so i was so surprised and some person started saying i was hating like ong bro do you really care abt protecting ur weird ass kink?
Honestly as much as they are "free to express their opinions too" like what the other person said here, it's still weird for them to hate on someone who calls out the weirdness/problem in the story. Sure "don't like don't read" is a thing but once again why wouldn't you criticise the story for romanticising incest or fetishising it?
Well..I know that people can freely express thoughts and opinions, and comment section was made for that purpose. We have to keep in mind that there are bound to be contradicting ideas against us whether our stand is valid or not. So, to answer your question, something we perceived as weird maybe is their norm? Or maybe their fictional pleasure or preference. Perhaps, from most people's viewpoint, incest is weird, but for a few, taboo gives thrill to them. It is a matter of preferences and thrill imo. So, hating something they like may trigger them. However, the thing is that you are not in the wrong either...and neither are they. You are freely expressing your opinion, and so are they. So, the best thing you can do to avoid those situations is to ... keep the opinion to ourselves or dgaf to them. Sometimes, there are some mangas which I find really strange, and if I don't want someone to argue with me, I don't comment. But if I do, I expect it at least. Oh, and if they are cursing you or shaming you out of spite (I mean personal attack), then they don't worth your time. (You have the right to comment everything as long as it is not a personal attack, so you can either validate your stance or ignore them. Ignorance is bliss sometimes [I feel you ] )

you’re completely right!! i genuinely dont care about who reads what and if stuff like incest is someones cup of tea, idc. but my specific experience was me being surprised at smthing being incest and i got a reply saying i was arguing and hating, which was just weird bc i js thought it was funny i was surprised the manga was incest and thus the question, why are they so quickly defensive despite me not even not hating. also dw! ur english was perfect :)
