Art
Honestly I feel like if you're not an artist you shouldn't have the right to criticise someone's work, like how can you call someone's art ugly when you can't even draw yourself? These artists do not work hard just for someone who can't draw tell them that their art is ugly. This is just my opinion don't kill me (For me the only exception to this is if the artist is an asshole/problematic person). What do you guys think?
So if you are not a writer you can't judge a book? If you're not a cook you can't say if something tastes good or bad? If you're not a singer you can't criticize a song?
That's not how it works. People have opinions on things. You can judge things regardless of whether you could do it yourself. You always have to be respectful about it though and t...... 1 reply
Disagree. Many people have a keen eye, and professional art critics aren't always artist them selves. Same about those who learn art history, and are taught by professors, not artist. (Though there are quite a few who have an interest in both.) The only reason someone should be critiquing others works is when they are asked for it. Otherwise, keep ...... reply

i mean its good to have cristism, it helps people improve. its just that people dont know how to give it so they just end up being flat out mean under the guise of being "honest" so i understand why people end up being defensive about it.
people really need to learn how to give cristism without being a dickhead, that doesnt mean cristism shouldnt ...... reply
Criticism without empathy is just hate, I think your post is in good faith to artists and I appreciate that. You can criticize but make sure you actually know what you're talking about and intend to help the artist. Otherwise, you're just an asshole. reply
This is probably just a bait but i'm bored and pent up from a busy day so i'll bite anyway.
1. criticizing and mocking isn't the same thing (with enough common sense and maturity you should be able to tell the difference ^^)
2. living in an echo chamber where you only listen to superficial validation from yes-men won't help you improve. getting f...... reply
