Helpppppp how do I do this
Xanthotoxin, a photosensitizer compound found in parsnips, contains only C, HI, and O. Combustion of 1.000 g of xanthotoxin produces 2.443 g of CO2 and 0.3334 g of H2O. Determine the molar mass of the compound if it is between 175.0 and 250.0 g/mol. Provide an answer to four significant figures.
its an empirical formula stoichiometry problem so its like CxHyOz=H2O+CO2 u gotta balance the equation then use stoichiometry to find the mass for both 175 and 250. then u use that to find the right ratio of c, h, and o and add up the masses of those from the periodic table.
If u got a test on this i would reccomend memorizing how to set up a stoi...... 1 reply
