"Fixing" someone's art?
I have seen some controversy about "fixing" other people's art. Examples of this are: adjusting a character or oc's body size, the skin color, etc. Some people have been editing other people's art or characters so they look black, such as genshin impact characters. I want to know your opinion on "fixing" or changing someone else's art, and whether you think that if there is no bad intent behind it, if it should be tolerated?
im okay w edits if theyre using official art of anime/manga. whats disrespectful is editing someones oc/fanart and shamelessly replying to ops post/tweet while saying "i fixed it for u" reply
Disrespectful as someone who d would be considered an “artist” I would be beyond pissed if someone “fixed” my art. Just because someone drew a character slightly lighter does not mean you with your shitty skills has to touch someone else’s work not to mention most characters ain’t black but tan ad their skin color will be constantly cha...... reply
I actually hate it bacause its not their character to fix i think only the one who owns the character can do whatever they want to them, for example when i make ocs i NEVER depend on what other "professionals" say if i want to combine green and pink, i will "bUt GrEeN aNd pInk aReNt a VaLid CoMbinAt-" stfu karen there aren't any rules to art

I feel like I'm going to be attacked for putting my own opinion on this, but I think that you shouldn't "fix" other people's art. No matter what, I think this shouldn't be allowed, especially if you're using the word "fixing." This seems insulting to the artist and can be really annoying. I have no problem if you're making yourself or someone else ...... reply

I’ve seen LOADS of artists whitewashing kaeya in their fanart so obviously people are gonna fix the fanart, because whitewashing a character with dark skin isn’t tolerable at all. As someone who likes to draw I would feel attacked if someone took my art and "fixed" it. The problem isn’t even about someone changing things in a drawing and playing around, the problem is the way people go about it. So if for example someone took a character from my art and changed the hair/skin color or anything like that, gave me credit for ...... 2 reply
if it's not your art you shouldn't be touching it. if someone 'whitewashes' a character and you don't like it just comment about it on the post. you cant 'fix' someone's art, it's beyond disrespectful and shouldnt be done. the artist has the choice to adjust whatever they want when making fan art. 1 reply
editing official art and making certain characters black isnt that bad but editing like twitter artists art must be super annoying. i get why some people wanna edit it though, im really sick of seeing kaeya 5 skin tones lighter than he is. reply
People are seriously doing this for clout. We have artistic freedom and they're basically just taking it away from the artists. If you wanna see characters with their "original" color, make your own art. You can't just take someone else's art and say "i fixed it " when it wasn't broken in the first place. Even in art school noone will "fix" your drawings. It's a stupid concept, art is free (well, it stretches as far as personnal freedom does, stomping on others was never included in that ofc)
I someone asks for it, giving anatomy directions by sketching over or something is fine and can be quite helpful, but that's how far as it goes, everyone has ...... reply
