i think the biggest difference is that there are legitimate reasons we can sympathize with for murder in fiction (so basically number 2). u can murder out of self defense, murder so YOU don’t get murdered, and killing an asshole feels a bit like karma, though extreme. also we all die sooner or later, and death is something we will all experience.......   reply

Honestly, this is a question I've been asking myself for a while. I've been strictly thinking that rape in fiction and shotacon is not correct and should not be portrayed in fiction in a romantic way. But one day I came to ask myself, why is killing and torturing alright in movies, video games and mangas but not rape or shotacon? Don't get me wrong......   2 reply

I believe rape is worse than murder. And in terms of whether or not I think it's okay to kill someone because they did something bad, I don't. I don't think death is a punishment- simply because we don't know anything about the afterlife (not taking religious beliefs into account because they aren't definitive nor universal) for all we know everyon......   1 reply

because murder can sometimes be justified in our minds like "oh he was a terrible person he deserves to die" or "he had no choice it was self defence" or "they killed their loved one so fucker had it coming" but rape can never be related to nor justified and we all agree they deserve to die ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭   1 reply

er biggest difference is yaoi tends to glorify romanticize rape and tries to depict it as a good thing. I kinda hate that, as it's a central part of the story and you can't really pretend it didn't happen while the characters you listed who have killed people are basically just bg info you can pretend didn't happen! I havent read yellow dragon tho......   reply

I was raised as a girl, and I don’t know what the typical experience was for boys in my culture. But when I was a child and first encountered the concept of rape, it was presented to me as worse than murder. Like a curse: if you were unlucky or made certain mistakes, you could get raped, and it would destroy your life. You would be forever afraid......   1 reply

Um I think they're equally bad they just have different effects like you cant rate how painful different kinds of fatal diseases are, bc their all equally horrible, just different. And theres a lot yaoi shit that literally makes light of both rape and murder I've seen, like one where the poor bottom got raped but he just felt embarrassed about bein......   reply

-[Serious Answer/Opinion]- I feel as though murdering (in manga) is better than rape in way because for one: they're fictional characters, no ones truly lost a life to someone and two: lives are lost everyday, we can't fight an end that's meant for us even if it's by the hand of someone else. Rape on the other hand lives through someone and ......   2 reply

I think you answered your own question already. Righteous murder gets a pass in fiction. In universe you can find plenty justification for killing an enemy and we as readers tend to contextualize the moral judgment of a character's actions according to their place in the story. The good guy kills bad guys so it's ok, the bad guy is a murderer becau......   3 reply
