Kind of nice, but his epiphany was way too abrupt. A little bit more than a few pictures and a brief retelling of his meeting with his brother would have made it much more believable and really added to the story. I did want to strangle him early on with the way he got women to fall in love with him for the pleasure of kicking them to the curb. With his cold fish nature and total gloominess, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why this veritable bevy of women fall head over heels for him.

A lot better than most of her books. The doctor (Dutch, naturally) was quite awkward around her, but not a complete moron like so many of her MLs. I really loved the fact that, for a change, the FL wasn’t an idiot doormat for a bevy of selfish relatives.

Liked her and her son a lot. The ML and his douchebag father can go to hell on greased skids. As Ninie said she doesn't need that a**hole in her life. As to the father's excuse that there were "so many women claiming they were pregnant by his 20 year old son," there are several scenarios: 1. Sonny-boy couldn't keep it in his pants and boffed every girl he could get his hands on. 2. Their home town had an unbelievably high percentage of gutsy teenage girls who were chronic liars with no sense of shame or fear of consequences. 3. Daddy dearest was a misogynistic, authoritarian asshole who likes threatening helpless young girls. Option 2 can be thrown out because it is so unlikely that the only people who would believe it without concrete proof would be the Tinfoil Hat Brigade. Both options 1 and 3 are quite likely as number 1 would be the only way that more than one girl would be knocking on the door with a claim of pregnancy, and number 3 is pretty self evident by what big Daddy said. He threatened an underage girl personally. It wasn't a calm statement that he would turn it over to the police, it was "what I will do to YOU!" To use one of my favourite words when speaking of Harlequin male characters, he was irredeemable. If that's a "Noble Family," I'll be proud of my peasant status.

Sorry to be unsympathetic, but he was weak. He also needed therapy. The fact that he didn't get any is why he is wallowing in his trauma. Aside from my harsh opinion of him, the story was good and I liked all the secondary characters as well as the FL. (I'd like to have seen more of her best friend, she was hot!)

I realize the ML had a strange childhood with a lying pile of garbage for a father, but his close to sexual obsession with chocolate was, umm, different. As to Daddy Dearest, if he acted like that in my house and to my fiancee, he wouldn't be welcome anymore and I'd probably cut him off from the exchequer as well. Aside from that, I loved the lesson presented with Toby, and Franca was totally adorable.

Very well done story about decent people overcoming tragedy and circumstances. No forced drama or ridiculous misunderstandings and no unforgivable conduct. A definite winner.

I enjoyed it (I always love Marito Ai), but he sure had a strange character. Supposedly, he absolutely hated his stepmother, yet she was always around him and played him like Jascha Heifetz played a Stradivarius.

Love her, she rocked! Him... Meh, OK, I guess. It just irked me a lot that he wasn't able to love the bride who died adoring him. It's as though the author is saying that he couldn't really love the FL if he had truly loved his late wife. It makes me think that a lot of HQ authors and readers really don't understand love at all. Real love is far more than tantric orgasms and fireworks, and to pretend otherwise cheapens it completely. It promulgates the stupid view that true love can only happen between a young George Cluny with terminal tumescence and a nymphomaniac version of a young Elizabeth Taylor.

What a romantic story should be! And Toda Megumi's artwork to top it off.

Not a bad story at all. However, if I was the doctor, I probably would have used a scalpel on the two traffickers in a way that would have left, shall we say, a permanent impression. Since this is England, human traffickers, murderers, and rapists receive a slap on the wrist while someone who swipes a cigarette goes to jail for 18 years (true story). I'm afraid that I can't play that way, having been brought up with at least a modicum of common sense and a belief in justice and fairness.
