Bianca

Complete | Hagio Moto | 2000 released

Understated and sad, though definitely on the creepy side with that whole "I wouldn't have let her leave either." I feel like female deaths were really romanticized for a good portion of history, and you can still see it reflected in the art of people who came to prominence during those time periods. At any rate, it was an interesting little tale.

His Lake

Complete | Densen | 2000 released

Eh? So was he the evil magician or whatever the whole time? What was with the horns? Or was it implying that he'd turned evil in his grief? Very short and rushed, like everyone is saying, but at least it was too brief and shallow to make me cry, so hey!

The Story of The Princess and The Little Mermaid

Complete | murasakino | 2000 released

Well that was a bummer. Too short to really suck you in, but the last line was still kind of a gut punch.

My Childhood Friend Was a God

Complete | Ruru (menten watagashi) | 2019 released

Definitely heartbreaking but not hopeless. He's always with him, and one day he'll die too, and maybe they'll be together. There must be a special ending for a person made exclusively for that god, so I imagine they'll be with each other after death. It definitely made me cry, though. Loving someone who you know will be gone soon is a painful thing. The comments made it sound like the story was way more dark and depressing than it was, though. It was sad and hurt, but I think eventually he'll go on to have a normal life and know that his best friend and first love is watching out for him.

How To Cross The Road

This author does a lot of random little oneshots. I do like this, but it's more of a flash of a comic than anything. Poor babies, but it's good they're there to look after a new baby who doesn't know yet.

Litchi Hikari Club

Complete | furuya usamaru | 2006 released

What the fuck... That was so freaking weird and random, but mostly it was just too quick and abrupt to leave any impact. All of the characters were evil, stupid, or both. What was with the chick, though? Was she supposed to be mentally challenged? That's the only thing I can assume based on the things she said and choices she made, but I can't tell if it was intentional or not. Anyway, a gross and lame story about megalomania and psychosis. I get what it was going for in a way, but it was just generally so bad and rushed with nothing but misery, and the only one left is a total moron. I'm glad all of the boys died, though, since they were all killers and/or rapists. Touching a passed out girl's boob is apparently all some people need to feel life is fulfilling.

Mobu Oji-san Demo Koi ga Shitai!

Ongoing | Arakata | 2016 released

Only one chapter translated, unfortunately. I want to know what the rest says, but it's all so sad anyway. The meta, dark humor of it has me intrigued. I already know how it ends, but I'd like to know more about what's happening in the meantime. That final shot is so damn abrupt though, and... I kind of like that the bully top gets to lose something in such an awful way. Maybe you shouldn't have treated him so badly.

Abyss

Complete | Kim eunji,Eeej | 2019 released

Beautiful art, but it was just a rape fetish story. It had the humiliation and the mind break and everything. Just not for me. It was weird when it cut to the next shot and the kid is just dead. We didn't even get to see the fallout of that, but suddenly the captain is just horny for cock. I don't get the mind break kink.

Kyuuhankagai Fukurokouji

Complete | Tamekou | 2019 released

The main story wasn't really for me. Too rushed, kinda cheesy. I couldn't really get into it because everything moved so quickly. It made them all seem weird and illogical. The third story, however, was interesting. I love the way it was framed, and the subtle shift with the girl. Realizing this guy they all idolize is a sadist. The simple change from the beginning. I really loved that final line, "...I don't..."
