Indigo's manga / #Paraphilias(2)

Fire Candy

Complete | yonekura kengo | 2000 released

The drawing is good but it isn't my cup of tea. It has many components which help turn it into an explosive Molotov cocktail: mad male character, gangsters' rivalry, addiction to drugs, unrequited love, scenes bordering hentai (very explicit graphic content), fidelity to a deceased lover, at least two bisexual male characters (both of them get turned on by blood), same-sex prostitution, violence and gore. I believe that the fact that two of the characters or more are (sexually) turned on by blood, gore and violence is a manifestation of one of the many types of paraphilias; it might be haematophilia, sexual attraction involving blood, but I am not sure about that). Suitable for an adult audience. The ending was rushed and unfulfilling due to its many obscure points. Note: Paraphilias describe the many instances where the sexual arousal occurs in response to objects or stimuli not associated with normal sexual behavior patterns.

Yellow Heart

Ongoing | Yonekura Kengo | 2001 released

This story has two competing components. On one hand, it depicts the life of gangsters and the yakuza; on the other hand, it focuses widely on the active sexual life of all the protagonists. The latter component has taken over the whole story, which led to the dilution of the drama element in it. This could have become a great story, something similar to "Heat" manga, if the sexual component in it was tamed down. It is more like hentai with a dose of action, drama, madness, sadness and ambiguities. If you enjoy explicit graphic content, you probably are going to like it, that if you don't mind the author's inclination to use some very abusive language towards women and if you don't have any issues with infidelity and gang rape. Of course, the mangaka tried to use both themes in an erotic way but gang rape is still gang rape, and infidelity is still infidelity, though the other guy was part of it (he was turned on by the fact that his girlfriend was cheating on him), go figure! Note: one of the female characters has a masochistic side and two of the main male leads share the same paraphilia, they get aroused at the sight of blood (a tropism depicted also in "Fire Candy", by the same mangaka).
