Ebon's manga / #OP MC(26)

MC is summoned to another world as a hero-to-be, only for his summoners (the king + his mages) to discover that he only has the strength of a normal human. So saying, they cast him out. It isn’t until the MC becomes level 2 that his actual strength as a summoned hero emerges, and he ends up in a neutral position to see both sides of the humans’ war with the demon race. (MC is VERY OP, but doesn’t always use his abilities in a show-off way - although others are still shocked by them. Also, there is romance with a single female character, the MC’s traveling companion.) I liked this one much more than I thought I would. The story pacing is very good after the first few trope set-ups, and it’s a bit different than the other plots out there, which is also nice.....waiting for the next chapters now!

MC is a Japanese person who, upon his death, finds himself reincarnated into a fantasy world with one wish granted from the time of his death. This time, he will live a friendly and happy life.....ruling over monsters of the Jura forest?! This manga has its own anime, sometimes called, “The Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime”. But I have to say, although it’s very close to the manga, it leaves out a few bits, so I still like the manga better. MC is definitely OP (growing stronger) as long as you give it some time, but in a much more believable way where there are still others in the world that are stronger. It’s super funny and mostly lighthearted (except when it’s not), but very well-written. Definitely recommend!

An avid gamer dies one day and is surprised, upon waking, to realize that he is now in the body of his avatar from the game.....only everyone in the game-world seems to have lived there all their lives, and there are no other former “players” to speak of?? That’s.....suspicious. As the MC begins to move about in the world he once knew, more and more discrepancies come up until he wonders if it’s really the same game-world at all......or perhaps the world has just changed more that he realized since he last played the game? This was a very interesting read. There were a few places where I thought the plot was boring and was really just reading to finish it, but around Ch. 20/25 or so, it started to get quite exciting again. It’s not as steadily interesting a story as some others, but unlike most isekai, where things just happen and we never really question why, this world DOES have secrets, and we DO begin to question them. For this reason, I’d still say it’s one of the best-written isekai stories out there.....excited for the story to continue!

Suddenly, the MC and his entire class find themselves summoned as prospective heroes to another world?! Except, for some reason the country summoning them seems just a bit suspicious..... Once they arrive, turns out each classmate has their own class, and the MC’s is “assassin”, except he might be stronger than the one with the “hero” title?! So begins the MC’s adventure to become the strongest human and to take revenge on those who harmed someone he cared for. This was great. It’s fast-paced and fairly original, considering all the tropes it employs in a clever way. MC does eventually have a female companion, but it’s not looking like it’s going to be harem at all. Looking forward to seeing where this goes!

A typical shut-in suffering from social anxiety disorder suddenly finds himself in another world as a ‘summoned spirit’. Only the girl who summoned him is considered weak (just as he is in his own world), and in this world the MC is.....somehow incredibly strong?! So begins his journey living the life of an anti-social shut-in who occasionally fights incredible daemons in a fantasy world! This one was......different. There are lots of moments where you’re very embarrassed for the MC (who IS OP....somehow), but it’s also clever, unique, and funny. I like the fact that the MC doesn’t just get called to another world then never return to his own, and - despite appearances to the contrary - he WILL start thinking about things more and getting stronger. I definitely recommend you try it and see if this author’s unique style is one you like!

After getting transported to another world with his school class, MC (considered the weakest among them) is separated, finding himself deep in dangerous territory. But he’s determined to live. So begins his journey.... I liked this a lot. MC will get OP - in a realistic way - and take revenge on those he hates. No harem, and fairly serious plot. There’s also an anime, for those interested. Enjoy!

A magician too strong in his previous life (because of his eye color) to live in an ordinary way reincarnates in the future where magic has declined. Thus, hoping people’s outlook on his eye-color has changed with time, his new life begins.... This manga is nice, light, and funny - as long as you don’t mind one or two very odd Lolita/Shotacon scenes. Very jarring, but they don’t seem to affect the plot too much? Anyway, otherwise nice read. EDIT: Maybe a bit of harem too....

A kind person is evaluated upon his death to have an ‘SSS’ rank for good deeds, and so he is reincarnated with the corresponding strength in his next life..... Cute, with a very OP MC. Not many chapters yet, but if my suspicions are correct, this will be a very interesting read once we can get farther along in it!

MC is an orphan taken in by three undead, who become his family. He learns skills from each of them - even proper respect for the gods.....and how evil some of the other gods are. In this life, unlike in his previous one, he is determined to LIVE rather than just ‘remain alive’..... Just....wow. This was absolutely beautifully and brilliantly written, and I completely recommend it. It has humor and darkness, sorrow but also happiness. In some ways, it’s a lot like D. Grey-man. Incredible.

Former ojisan Yakuza finds himself stolen from a fight into another world...where he wakes up in the body of a prim and proper girl. That’s fine, so long as no one minds as he continues acting and talking like a male gangster...so begins his journey. This is great. It’s funny, and I love that it’s not a ‘token’ previous life - the MC’s previous experience really shapes what he plans and does now. There are also a few secrets in the story that I want to figure out. :) Excited to read more!
