RoseMary's manga / #Dominant/Tough Uke(351)

Chotto Matte yo Hanaya-san

Complete | MACHIYA Hatoko | 2017 released

At times there was some too comical drama, or at other moments it had a too fairytale-like sparkle, which are not really things I dig for...Also, at some points there were some silly reactions and it seemed the story would take some ridiculous childish turns (with the ex-boyfriend entering the scene etc.), and it'd have been annoying for me if that were to happen. But thankfully it didn't, as, after those moments, the story promptly managed to go back on track again, regaining a more mature, composed tone. I'm glad they talked honestly about their thoughts and their relationship remained a healthy one, without too much drama of the silly kind. And this mangaka draws some very beautiful sex scenes! So, it was really a good story all in all! While it's not one of my favourites, it seemed to me a good slice-of-life BL! # Gay Florist x Straight High-school|Uni Student // Age Gap: 10 years // At the beginning of the story, the seme is 18 y.o., so the uke is probably 28 y.o. // When they finally go all the way, the seme is already a uni student.

Joou to Shitateya

Complete | Scarlet Beriko | 2013 released

Interior Designer (23|24) x Tailor (37) - I really liked the idea of the tailor shop, as there aren't many stories like this, and I liked the whole atmosphere, the shop's antique furniture and the interiors of Tetsuya's house. I also love this type of couple with a much younger shorter seme and a much older taller mature uke. It's just that, while I loved the story overall, the dynamics and build up of their relationship wasn't exactly what I expected. I mean, I loved their how they met and their first interactions, like when the tailor took the measures for the suit etc., but then the seme comes to Tetsuya's house drunk and kisses him and just like that they are boyfriends. Then, when they're doing it and the seme asked Tetsuya if he was ok with being the bottom, they say that was already the fourth time they did it, so basically when they went all the way for the first time, they did it off-page and I don't like when they do that. Then we find out that, 15 years before, Tetsuya was married but his wife left him for another man...so, was this his first time with a man? And the seme, was he a virgin or what? Somehow, when I read, I want to know about these things as well. Also the thing with the seme's sister interfering was a bit annoying, so yeah, let's say that the further developments seemed kinda awkward to me and they simply were not much my type. And the construction itself of the story seemed a bit off. In my opinion, it needed some polishing. But it was so cute that in the end it was still very nice and I think it's worth reading.

Yagate, Ao Ni Naru

Complete | est em | 2000 released

️5 stars for the main|title story! I really liked the way it was written...so good! Est Em's stories are always unique, not only for the art style but also for the concepts and the writing style, and I love that! Here, the theme of traditional indigo dyeing was very interesting. And I liked how the conflicted feelings of the two protagonists were portrayed. Their feelings could really be felt. As I love family-affair stories, I really liked this. By the way, I liked the quote about dyeing which was used as metaphor for their feelings and relationship. I also liked the parallelism of the parts about their respective "returns": first when Taisei returns home, as we see better in ch. 6, Kouta is inside and sees him through the window and calls out his name; then when in the end Kouta is the one returning home, Taisei is the one inside and seeing him calls his name. An impressive story, as expected from sensei. Too bad that here it's so criminally underrated!️ # Brother x Adopted Brother (Kouta's mother died when he was little. Then, when his father died, he was taken in by Taisei's family, as his father was working and living at their dyeing studio.) [[Ch. 7 & 8 are two unrelated oneshots included in this volume respectively called "Swim, Drown, Swim" and "Snow Falling Silently" // I honestly didn't care for these two short stories. Ch. 7 was not my thing and ch. 8 was not bad but it was just a peek at a couple of roommates on a snowy day. They weren't even exactly BL, but they certainly were unique as well.]]

Home Drama

Complete | takaido akemi | 2008 released

Really good and fun story with cordial and warm vibe! I really liked all the characters and the whole crazy family situation! A "Home Drama" for real haha I liked how, despite having all different mothers and being so different themselves from one another, the brothers get along so well and are comfortably living together, and also being together in somehow always driving away housekeepers one after the other haha They really needed someone like Shinnosuke, so capable in everything and also tough, literally able to knock them down ohoh he was cute and cool at the same time! In the end, I gave 4 stars to the story though, because I felt like something was still missing there to make it really completed. I loved the way Shinnosuke and the 2nd bro, Ryuuzou, became a couple, from their earlier interactions to the following development...but, while there was a good building up, I felt their sex scene was too brief. I wish it could have been felt a bit more! And the end felt a bit abrupt, with them becoming step-brothers at the very end: I mean, it's right there at the end that an actual "step-siblings' love" story would have begun! Also, its' a pity that things didn't work out for Kouji and Kyougo, the eldest and the third brothers. Too bad the third bro's feelings were one-sided. Especially since, although they didn't tell it to him, it turned out the third bro was actually their father's best friend's son, so it wouldn't have been even incest. Actually, even if the eldest said he couldn't return his feelings, at the end it felt like their situation was still unresolved, because even Ryuuzou said the thing with them was still hanging in the balance, so we needed more! Also, in the end, the little bro receiving a love letter from a third-year student and thinking about it...we definitely needed to see more about that as well! Yep, without a doubt, it would have been really nice to see more of all the other brothers! In fact, when I read stories with brothers, I love to see all of their events. That's something really amusing! So yeah, I kinda needed a second volume to see a bit more of everything! But it's still a favourite of mine!! I really enjoyed reading it! >> Note for myself: [[Toura brothers - 4 half-brothers*: Kouji (31, Eldest bro, Salaryman, Straight); Ryuuzou (28, 2nd bro, Scriptwriter, Gay); Kyougo (17, 3rd bro, High-school student, He's in love with the eldest bro, Gay); Koroku (14, 4th bro, Middle-school student, by the end he has barely just started questioning about love and sexuality) - and the new housekeeper, Shinnosuke (23, Tea Ceremony Instructor, Currently housekeeper at the Toura Household, Straight, He suspected he also was an half-brother of the the Toura bros, because his mother knew their father around the time he was born, but that wasn't the case at all. But in the very end of the story he really becomes their step-brother due to his mother and the bros' father meeting in Alaska and getting together. // *It turned out the third bro is actually not related to the bros]]

Backdoor Business

Complete | TAKAIDO Akemi | 2014 released

Unique story, the general idea was interesting! I must say that in actuality I honestly didn't care about all the cases they investigated, so it was boring for me to read those parts. At some point, I went through those pages quickly. But, apart from that, which also depends on one's personal tastes, it's a well-done nice and fun reading. Especially the characters were charming. I really liked Chiaki and Natsuki! I liked them together. I actually always like sensei's characters: I like the way she draws them, their personalities and behaviours...they never fail to fascinate me! In this story, I really liked this type of couple, which was also kinda unique I'd say, and that's definitely what made me read till the end! Their romance seemed marginal, and it really wasn't the focus of the story, but it slowly evolved and the ending was really nice! For the characters and their relationship, I'd have given it 4 stars!
