SpringHaze's manga / #reencounter(69)

This is one of those wholesome unproblematic stories that can turn out so bland but is saved by the characters, who are full of heart. An especially touching thing was Beom Jisoo's father's terminal cancer and the aftermath of his death: he is a jolly man who wants his son to enjoy life and be loved and cared for and Jisoo, although having prepared for his death for years, misses him terribly and feels so alone without his encouragement.

I really like this mangaka's cute brand of light-hearted humour and I breezed through this with such gusto, even if showbiz is usually not my jam.

Re-encounter and heartache caused by lack of communication. I liked that they had full lives in between, both were married with various degrees of happiness, and managed to find each other again and fix their past mistake. Even if it's an extrovert-introvert relationship, both are bad at expressing their real feelings and seem opaque to each other (which, apparently, is an attractive trait to have).

This mangaka is the queen of gentle feelings, I love both stories - they are connected, set in the same universe. Stray cat being lured into a good life with tasty food and gentle care is one of my favourite tropes, as is the older uke silently loved by the younger enthusiastic seme. These are sweet, sweet stories, no graphic sex, but sex still happens and it's portrayed intimately (the way Minakami-san's blue eyes get an even deeper shade when aroused during sex and Isaki-kun's strong back, oh). Kure-sensei is a mangaka to watch out for, her stories deserve a way better rating (this one currently sits at 8.6 which is frankly a crime, get better taste, losers).

This is as bland as boiled rice, apparently the author wrote a fab masterpiece with the Beast Must Die, and this is a downgrade. The characters have so little chemistry the story seems to drag on pointlessly and I literally have no idea why they are together except their pretty faces. They make a whole situation out of switching and then the author makes a point to confirm she doesn't care for it, but they still think/talk about it - like why the fuck?!? Don't like this :( Read up to ch. 41, tbd if I ever continue.

Yen Press October 2024 Looks interesting

This is former fuckbuddies who were in love meeting and fucking again but managing to get those feelings across this time. Loved how the flashbacks were interspersed throughout the story.

7S December 2024. Not a buy There's a second story in the last chapter that actually is unfinished. Main story is so lukewarm, I really couldn't care less about their romance, though it was cute? I guess?
