Taming the Tiger

Complete | 오늘만 사는 형제,brothers without a tomorrow | 2019 released

If you think BWaT would write wholesome and gentle relationships, you need to find something else to read (maybe Smyrna would qualify, but it's still ongoing). Anyway Geumhoo is unhinged and Beom is emotionally codependent and that is probably super romantic in some people's book but not in mine. Compelling bottom, as always with this writer, absolutely love Geumhoo (and his design is fire, he's drawn like your usual villain, pale and slanted eyes and he is gorgeous with his hair down). Edit: Couldn't help it and peeked at the last chapter - they end up together, but scarred and crippled, which broke my heart. Geumhoo is tender to his Beom and is fierce in protecting him at every step, even if Beom is built like a mountain and a butcher who can chop off a human body to bits, and he goes around displaying all the 'flowers' Beom bites on to his body like a lunatic <3. Edit: The smut is so delicious and Geumhoo loooooves to talk dirty ('Beom...eat' @_@ and husband/bride roleplay <3). Edit: Are you kidding me?!?!?!?! Geumhoo with a baby!!! He's good with babies, since he raised his half-brother arghhhhhhhhh. Edit: I really like the pacing of this - it's very focused on their relationship and I can feel some plot thickening but it's coming gradually, enough to give them time to be happy and build something between them (seen as they start as master and servant/slave). Edit: They're so thirsty for each and so in love *hearteyes* Edit: Beom don't die you're too sexy :(((((. The story is ofc a tragedy, but thank you reincarnation. Edit: Geumhoo in lingerie, I am deceased. Edit: Modern times rule because of social equality, same-sex marriage and the freedom to kiss your Beom in the streets. Also, we get the 'I love you' s missing from the other time-line.

Day Off

Ongoing | Qing cai | 2019 released

I am so in love with this manhua <333 what a lovely surprise! The first couple are already established at the beginning, so it's all fluffiness and some light angst (it's set in Taiwan, the only country in Asia with legal same-sex marriage, so there's some light homophobia, but otherwise everyone is so supportive). Xiaofei is a very assertive little thing and Shi Dongyun is a real home-maker (Xiaofei never calls him anything but 'chief' though). My favourites are the second couple - cause that's always me - Shi Chunlei-ge and Lin Shi the shy part-timer who tutors him in singing. Gege has a small son (he is just returning from paternal leave after two years, his wife appears to be deceased, but no backstory so far) and little Shi falls in love with him so quietly and gently and helplessly that it melted my heart. I just cannot get enough of these two and I can't wait for an update. The first few episodes are short, more like little snippets, but then they become fully fledged chapters and the art gets even prettier. Edit: Lin Shi kinda sorta confessed and now it's awkward. Edit: I love Ge sm, he's so conflicted and starts questioning so many things. Edit: Please... I'm dying here... More. Edit: Licensed in English by a new imprint called Aloha Comics (https://alohacomics.company.site/) and they also have Here U Are and Link Click!!! And Nirvana in Fire?!? Edit: Season 2 is going to get Ge a sweet boyfriend, I can tell :)))) Edit: Are you... are you kidding me rn?!? Ge got his happy ending and it was actually only beginning, why did you end season 2 with a time skip (10 whole years and a Twitter-confirmed marriage)?!?!?!?!? Give me all the sweet moments in between!!! Ge gets a partner to raise his son with and we were fucking robbed! Apparently this is the end?!? We might see some extras on social media? I don't think you understand just how happy made me see an update today, only for it to end things! If there isn't a season 3 there's no telling what I'll do. Edit: The twitter extra with the Alpha pregnant brothers, I need it now!!! Edit: The Christmas Twitter extra <33333333 I want to drown in this story! Edit: If Aloha Comics falls through or is a scam or too difficult to get my hands on a copy, we got a fresh French license as well, which is more reliable than most.

Love Shuttle

Complete | Im Ae-Ju | 2000 released

Taehun's and Doyun's faces suffer a little around season 3 iirc, they're not a soft and pretty anymore. Dojun's too and he's my favourite (same with Jinyoung's super pretty bespectacled face). It bothers me a little, as their wide-eyed deer-in-the-headlights looks are what kept me reading past the first chapter (forever a slut for pretty art) and that changes drastically towards the end. The story is gorgeous and engaging and ongoing with the side stories it seems (more Jinyoung/Dojun and his lunatic older brother who thinks he's adopted and gaslights him while thirsting for him). The main couple are a delight, starting as antagonistic little shits and growing into lovely besotted partners (Doyun ruining Taehun's marriage proposal and Taehun still stubbornly checking his list and proposing several times) - also the pregnancy reveal and Taehun's wide golden eyes. I loved these boys a lot and they love each other even more - there is so much smut, so much heat smut, so much rut smut, so much coordinated heat and rut smut, dear Lord! Doyun is a 26-year old virgin omega who never had heats and then a door in unlocked and he becomes a slut, love him to bits <3 The story is very sweet and fluffy and minimally angsty for the main pairing, while Dojun suffers through a fuckbuddies thing with his brother's doctor (Jinyoung), who is only playing with him while taking advantage of his insecurities. Loved that there are grey characters like Jinyoung, who are still thrown off by honesty and pure feelings and made to question everything. Speaking of grey characters - Dojun's older brother (Do-hwa I think?) was a really dark surprise in the extras. He was already an asshole but then he veered into psychopath (though I doubt he will stay that way), and I loved that Jinyoung recognizes him as similar to himself, that was a good scene. I would definitely buy this in print. Edit: Hmmmm, I think I'm down with Do-hwa in the mix, that would be something I'd be clapping for.

The Tainted Half

Complete | Chyomchyom | 2019 released

I really like this and the heroine is a goody two shoes but in a really kind and loveable way. The LI is hot like fire (and because of the curly hair he's totally a Luo Binghe but the original goods ). Edit: Muon is huge as a mountain and I dig the size difference - also, there's something so animal about him that it appeals to something so animal within me, in other words spreads my legs so fast. I ship Seolha with her nursemaid, girl no one believes you when you say you fell in love with Muon and then crawl into your servant's bed for comfort. Edit: Muon is a one-woman man and he only takes one wife who gives him one daughter and she will become the next ruler. The curse is finally broken.

The Lady and Her Butler

Complete | JADE,Jade | 2017 released

I've been reading this for a year and a half, since November or December 2018 I think, interest waned for a bit, but the ending is perfect for them - and Sooha continues to be such a lovely, lovely character. It surprised me from the get go that, for someone fiercely independent and afraid of commitment, she is deftly able to navigate her relationship with Taesoo and show a lot of calm and emotional intelligence. I love, love, love that there was no baby, even if she miscarried (nothing dramatic, she gets over it and treats it lightly), because they avoided the 'unprepared for parenthood' stage that ruins lives. They get the time to think it over, get a little scared for having the choice taken away from them with Sooha's cystic ovaries, and still no baby by the end of it, just the conviction that whatever comes they are ready to take responsibility and commit. Also, the way she deals with the pregnancy and miscarriage alone, without telling her husband, was the icing on the cake (my body, my rules) and the way Taesoo reacts to the secrecy blew me away - worried that she didn't trust him enough to share the burden. Edit: I literally gasped when I saw the licensing announcement for this, 7S picked it up for 2024.

Really pretty for a webtoon, no idea what was actually going on, read it diagonally.

I liked how this started and I liked the protagonist, strong and unbeatable down-on-his-luck poor guy and then the seme was introduced and he is a douchebag and has a very dark side to him that never goes away not even when they are happily shacked up (he also rapes him, let's not forget that bit). I was a little mad at uke for falling in love so quickly and unreasonably, though he shows self-awareness and beats himself over it as well. There's a lot of smut, like a whole lot, seme has a monster cock (30 cm, do I remember that right? seems fake but ok) and they are both crazy into it, dirty sluts all over each other, which is such a huge bonus. Also, the story line is very engaging and got me hooked from the first chapter, especially since the art is not quite to my taste (but it's fine for a webtoon).

Kiss me, Liar

Complete | Zig | 2019 released

This has rape and all sorts of pheromone-induced hysteria that comes with this trope, the alpha is an overbearing asshole who grows and becomes husband material by the end and the omega has, lo and behold, a spine and is not above lying and manipulating and getting his revenge. What this brings new to the omegaverse table is the omega's ability to mark the alpha (the bite goes on the ear) thus rendering them unable to bond with another omega, and the inability of the alpha to do the same - which means the omega is actually free to have more alphas if they can handle them. The story is really engaging and I actually read all the chapters in one sitting and skipped none. One quibble though: the last chapter makes it clear that Josh, the kind omega who helps the protagonist, has children by Grayson (LI's alpha trash friend who is a player), instead of that hot red-head who takes care of the protagonist while he's on the run. Art is quite pretty for a webtoon and the artist goes nuts on the shoulder to waist ratio for Keith *mwuah* Edit: There's an official translation now and I curiously checked the first chapter. JC is the art different from the ending chapters and the sequel/extras especially. Keith you so ugly, boy!
