summary of the plot: paulina’s family is awful and send her off to war because every noble household has to send someone. they literally hate her and want her to die, and abandoned her with an old solider that becomes her teacher. time passes and she is raised to b a solider that knows about war tactics and combat, and enlists in the war at 14. 6 years pass and when she tried to tell the high-ups that the enemy is planning to set a trap for them they don’t listen because she’s a woman. of course she gets pissed, like same. anyways the battle goes according to how the higher ups want, they get caught in the trap, and only paulina and her squad escape because she had the smarts to. paulina lets her squad escape while she acts as bait to lure the enemy chasing them away from her squad, and then gets captured. she asks for an honorable death and the king allows it, yet she almost got raped as soon as the king turned his back from some asshole soldiers. she fought back against a whole fucking group without armor, injured, and with a measly knife. the fight is broken up and the king is impressed, because she is strong as fuck and he researched about her background. she was the only one to see through his plan before it happened. the king appoints her as his knight and then she gradually gains everyone’s trust and loyalty while the war to unite the entire continent continues. when the war is over and the continent is united, the king realizes that he’s fallen for paulina but doesn’t say anything yet. they travel back from where their journey began at their home country where the king makes a grand enterance. politics ensue, and because paulina is the only woman to become a knight in that starting country, she gets prejudice rained down on her from EVERYWHERE. she fights hard to gain the upper hand and never gives in to the stares she gets. time passes and the capital is moved from the home country to somewhere more central in the continent. before that the king had taken 3 concubines, one which died from giving birth to a baby princess. the two others divorce him, because one of the women revealed that the council members were basically hiding a whole lot of bad political shit from the emperor (SHE BROUGHT PROOF TOO) and because her grandpa was one of those assholes she had to give up her position as a concubine. btw the only reason she knew about all this was because they let her into their secret meetings, because they thought she would never say anything as she was a weak quiet woman. they treated her like a ghost and they got boogied bitch. moving on the other concubine divorced the now emperor because she didn’t want to betray her friend(the other concubine) and nab the seat for the empress which was empty. while all this is happening, paulina feels no jealousy and actually got along well with the concubines as friends which was amazing to see. along with this paulina found a chubby doctor that she settled for because she didn’t want to be lonely when she got home, and decided to marry him. they planned the wedding and everything, until it was revealed that this gold digging bitch was disowned by his family for eloping with a maid and had a son with her. the maid died from child birth and the kid was left with the maid’s grandparents while the chubby doctor paid them every now again for the care. the real kicker is that he was planning to kill paulina to inherit her title as marquess and all her land. yet paulina, being the bad bitch she is, was there in the shadows when the chubby doctor admitted his plans to his grandpa-in-law OUTSIDE!!! who tf does that?! anyways paulina makes the chubby doctor cut his dick off for insulting her, and tells him to confess what he was planning to do to her to his son. even all this was way too light of a punishment bro, paulina should’ve done more. also the emperor being the simp he is, brought all this information before paulina that’s why she knew in the first place. he just didn’t expect paulina to confront him so soon about it, or he would’ve given her more support. Heartbroken, paulina and the emperor drink their hearts out in a nearby inn on their way back from the chubby doctor’s grandparents house. there they get too drunk and end up fucking, which was so funny to see cuz neither could remember anything of the night before and they both think they pounced on the other first. the situation is resolved by mural agreement to never speak of the day and forget it ever happened, which is a bummer. they arrive back to the castle where everyone knows of paulina’s broken engagement which is embarrassing lowkey, and the knights all comfort her by throwing her a drinking party. paulina refrains from alcohol thought, because of the night before with the emperor. now paulina has resolved herself to never get involved with men or marriage again! which completely crumples the emperor’s plans of FINALLY proposing to paulina. he still gonna do it tho, and is prepared to not take on any more concubines and only live his life with paulina. after all, he hasn’t had the best experiences with concubines. since paulina is infertile too, the emperor is prepared to give the thrown up to his nephew once he’s retired and plans to lay low while married to paulina. currently though, paulina is avoiding the emperor because she thinks she lacks discipline and is resolved to train until she can face the emperor again without feeling ashamed. btw i am currently on ch. 149, when are these bitches ever getting together?!!! over all there is a lot of misogyny which gets me so pissed, and a lot more conservative ideals like women having to stay at home. though this never brought paulina down and she actually thrives while proving those societal ideals wrong. while doing so too, she inspired other women to stand up for themselves like the concubine which exposed those council members. also i just wanna add paulina is so FUCKING hot oh my GOD!!! she is so fine and once she shoved the emperor against the wall while protecting him and he had to calm down his heart cuz she was so hot bro. like the dude had a harem, but i can forgive his ass cuz that scene was so relatable. love paulina, and not just because she’s a red head
