I'm sorry if you don't understand but I was reading the manga and a lot of people where saying they couldn't tell if Kaworu was using Shinjiki but looking at how he treated the cat and Shinjiki's friends he was only really nice to him. Add in the fact that if angels are all connected it is likely he knew about Shinjiki when he was born(?) as an angel. So with that logic he truly did love him (as best as an angel could). As well as this is the closest thing I've seen to cannon so far even if it's in another world because of that supernatural element. I am also very happy their wasn't any sexual stuff because at this point it would just feel out of place. I really enjoyed this book not because it's the ending I wanted but it seems like something that could actually happen and reminds me of Darling in the Franxxx even more now than it did before. I don't know how I've seen the same basic concept but truly expand on it. This author always surprises or confuses me in the sense they acknowledge Shinjiki's past wrongdoing's and even say Kaworu isn't perfect in the slightest but bring it together so beautifully that it doesn't feel cheap. I find stories like this absolutely amazing I love them with all my heart. To anyone who needs to experience pure firsts love or a struggling slow burn or and unrequited love that leads to character growth or the love between friends this is for you so many things in one it's so beautifully written and funny too! I love how it's not a solid end it leaves you wondering and imaging how their life will continue and what will change and what will stay the same. I whole heartedly recommend this to anyone wanting a complex slice of life story!
