It was decent until the male lead met a priestess which sealed up his sexual energy, and then it went completely downhill. It made no sense for the old man of the Penis Rock to be the ultimate villain of this webtoon. Also, I disliked the pairing of the male and female leads, I thought they were the most vanilla pairing out of all the possible pairings that existed... Sigh. Not worth reading to the end.

Death Note

Complete | ohba tsugumi | 2004 released

The art is fantastic, and the story is good until when L is killed. After that, it goes severely downhill. So many plot holes and there's no one to root for by the end of the manga. Seems like they ran out of ideas by the second half. All the so-called geniuses are pretty dumb in the end, what a let down.

Mediocre webtoon. The author tries to make a strong female protagonist, but fails miserably since she still relies too much on the Lucifer/Baal male love interest, and always needs his help. As a strong female character, you need to be independent and stand up for yourself. That concept quickly got thrown out the window. And I don't know why it's heading towards smut territory, that came out of nowhere. None of the characters are likeable and I don't care what happens to them.

Angel Game

Complete | Haruhara Robinson,Machida Toshiko | 2000 released

It was very dark and tense for most of the story, but then the plot twist about aliens playing this game for fun came out of nowhere, and it just lost all the depth and somberness of everything that came before it. It's also hard to feel for these characters, since they're so two-dimensional. I didn't care whether they survived or not.

Eh. It had a great premise, but didn't deliver on it. I'm a huge fan of episodic shopkeeper stories, but this isn't one that I like. I think it's important to have the medium of the story stand out, such as the setting and the characters (or in this case, shopkeepers). Think xxxHolic and Petshop of Horrors, the owner of the stores is enigmatic and full of secrets, luring unsuspecting customers to their potential dooms. Here, we learn nothing about the owner or the part-time worker, or even the items in the museum. The author chose to tell the stories in a weird "let's exchange random stories to each other" format, which isn't bad in itself, but it's done so poorly. The chapters are disjointed and sometimes you can't tell if you're in the middle of the story or if you're in the museum before they start another story. Some of the stories were creepy, but they all feel so flat. The art was great in the prologue, but severely declined in quality with each chapter.

Black Mirror

Complete | Muhwa,Wrist | 2000 released

It's a little better than the average BL webtoon, but not by much. I gave it an extra star since it does have a suspenseful atmosphere, and it's building slowly towards something, rather than jumping straight into pure smut. There's some semblance of an underlying plot, and the characters are not cringey, yet. The art is only average, but it does excel when it comes to the horror nightmare scenes. I don't like how this webtoon romanticizes smoking. Smoking is bad for you, don't make it appealing... I know it's a big part of Korean culture, but it doesn't help to keep promoting it like it's a good thing.

I really like this twist on the isekai genre where the main character is not the one who was reborn, but her male love interest is the protagonist, and he's observing her as she grows. As first, the prince treats her as an amusing plaything, but he comes to realize that it is more than that. I like the slow buildup since it's realistic, instead of insta-love you see in most romance isekai stories. Hoping for more great chapters~

Father, I Won't Do Anything

Cover art is beautiful, actual art is not as good, but still above average compared to other webtoons. Coloring is pleasing to the eye and pretty to look at, but panelling is poor, so I cannot tell what is happening in the story. Too much excessive use of close-ups of faces and the upper body, which is why the panel layouts are weak, due to lack of background elements. Basically, imagine watching a movie where you only see the actor's 1/3 of the body, and nothing else. It just jumps from one point to another point too fast and makes no sense. Maybe because it is a promo, it tries to cram too much into one chapter. Lack of transitions and explanatory dialogue makes it difficult to process storyline. I'm not a fan of this so far. It doesn't really stand out amongst other isekai works.

Fill Me Up, Mr. Assistant!

Another typical "I am the best ____, but I lost to this one person, so now I'm in love" trope. It's so stupid, but people always fall for this. It's not even executed well. It all happens in one chapter, without properly establishing either of the two characters. The art is ok, quite average for webtoons. I don't have a good sense of a proper story yet, besides that these two people will end up having lots of smut later, since one of them is an incubus.

I Want to Be You, Just For A Day Webtoon

Ongoing | 삼 | 2019 released

Wow, this webtoon is really good. It uses the previously popular concept of body-swapping very well, and effectively writes two compelling heroines into its narrative. I think I prefer this over the villainess isekai genre, since it's just done so much better this way. The two heroines are perfect foils for each other, Medea is strong and clever, while Psyche is compassionate and gentle, although the latter sometimes gets on my nerves. They grow as they become more comfortable in their new roles, discovering so much about each other, and learning of tragedies and misfortunes that the other has suffered. The art is absolutely beautiful, the author did a great job, especially with the details of the eyes. Of course, I prefer the look of Medea over Psyche, but I'm always rooting for Medea, no matter which body she's in. She's the badass heroine that goes around taking names and kicking everyone's ass. I hope the two of them can work together to take down the evil crown prince.
