Very interesting concept of trying to solve his brother's suicide by going through his app history and chat messages. I want to read more! Art fits this webtoon's tone very well.

This totally reminds me of "The Deadly Countdown", but I prefer this one. It's fun to guess how the death could have happened, and try to prevent it. I'm not sure why this is tagged Shoujo Ai though, there's no real indication that it is for now, but maybe in the future it will be? I'm honestly hoping it will just focus on the rescue from the jaws of death more, because I don't think romance will make this manga better. The art is pretty good, like with most manga.

Oh, this is so cool. The set up was great, with the chat room boxes, which remind me of all those mystery horror text chat games you can download on mobile these days, since it ends the same way. I hope someone picks this up in the future, I'd love to read more. The art is probably below average, but it doesn't need to be stunning for this genre of story, in my opinion. Update: While the suspense of the story was well done, the ending seemed rushed and there was a bit of a disconnect linking the past and the present. There were convenient plot fixes for large plot holes in the form of a singular person, and I didn't like that idea. However, it's a decent read.

Dairoku Sense

Interesting first chapter, but the cop x weird annoying sidekick partnership has been done over and over again. I'm not really sure what the boy's power is, since they didn't properly explain it, or maybe it's because of the bad translation. It seems like he can see things from the perspective of the dead murdered person? Anyway, it's alright so far, but the translation needs a proof-reader. The grammar is odd and some word choices seem to be just wrong. The art in this manga is very below par, with many blank backgrounds and simplistic character designs.

Pet Shop of Horrors

Complete | akino matsuri | 1995 released

One of my favorite series of all time. Each chapter is standalone and makes you think about whether the pet owners deserved their fate. Art is amazing. Count D and Leon have the best interactions, and Chris is adorable and precious.

Kurosagi Shitai Takuhaibin

One of the best horror and mystery manga I've read. The art is gorgeous. Definitely not for the faint of heart or those with weak stomachs. All the gory details of dead bodies are drawn without censors. It's a shame Dark Horse Comics stopped translating past Volume 14.

Matsuoka Kunio: Youkai Exterminator - Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service Spin-Off

Ongoing | OTSUKA Eiji,YAMAZAKI Hosui | 2000 released

Less gory compared to the original series, Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. It focuses more on the supernatural and follows how a famous Japanese writer solves mysteries and finds out the truth behind ghost stories. Pretty cool, it's a shame that the translators stopped translating this work.

Spider Web

This looks super promising! I am a huge fan of this sort of cat vs. mouse genre, and I wish someone continued to translate this. Art is very good, and keeps the reader guessing on who to trust. Love this!

One Missed Call

Complete | AKIMOTO Yasushi | 2000 released

A bit like "The Ring," where people die one after another after receiving a supernatural omen, in this case, the victim's own last words via a voicemail on their phone a few days before their actual day of death. The voice messages come from the future and announce down to the minute when someone will die. Then it turns out the cause of these tragic events originate from a girl with unnatural gifts who had been wrongfully killed for being "different", and now she's wreaking havoc on the people who caused her death and extending her vengeance on even the unsuspecting people around them. Except in this story, it's much more confusing as there's too many characters and they all look the same, and it just makes no sense as the plot jumps back and forth between them erratically and unpredictably. I could barely follow the plot, and I was left scratching my head at the end wondering what I just read. Art is below average for a manga.
