Nah, he ain't love her but he don't want to bully/neglect her. The universe is weird and based on the novel it's like he has no control over his actions, they are being controlled and over time his way of thinking becomes more and more distorted. Honestly, the ending makes little sense.
i don't know if it's the same but in novel's extra chapters there was a arc like this. wmmap athanasia went to the lovely princess world and things happen then lp claude became unconscious and lp athy became temporary emperor. and they said he was seeing something good that's why he doesn't wanna wake up. ig it's like this, bc of him seeing diana he didn't wake up.
