I fully agree with you. It's actually getting worse and worse... I mean, just give up already. Its not the first time that a yaoi with this kind of content is pubblished. People just don't understand that this kind of books are just for enterteinment purposes and it does not have a moral teaching whatsoever. If we're talking about moral values, reading mangas on a illegal site isn't quite right either.

1. Just because it's fiction doesn't mean that glamourizing rape or sexual assault is okay. It does happen in real life all the time. People are assaulted or raped regardless of their gender and perpetrators get away with it all the time. Rape and sexual assault is a serious issue in the gay community that isn't properly talked about as well. Many people don't take it seriously whether it's happening in real life or not.

2. Most people are obviously aware that it's a fictional story with fictional characters, yes, but it's still reflecting many real life scenarios and aspects of people. If you don't want to take it seriously because it's fictional then that's your choice but don't belittle the people who dislike stories that romanticize rape and non consent.

3. Reading a story under this genre does not mean you want to read about someone being forced or that you should expect it. Do not normalize sexual assault in gay relationships or in yaoi. Yes there are many stories that can be like that, especially under this genre, but there are also many that are not like that.

4. I'm not saying that no story can show rape. But the difference is when you have a story with rape or sexual assault that is being portrayed in a serious way, compared to when you have a story that uses rape and sexual assault in very superficial, objectifying and glamourizing ways, often justifying the actions as well. That's what you should be differentiating.

Does other people criticizing stuff you like make you upset? If so, why? You're pretty think-skinned if that's the case, just scroll past the comment and done!

this is exactly the type of people who preach here in the comments and yap around how we should not glamourize rape and stuff like that. where was the part in what i said that i glamourize sexual assault or rape?

It is common in yaoi. that is why i said that learn to differentiate real life and fiction because in fiction, the author is free to let their imagination run wild. that doesn't mean that their morals in real life go in that direction.
The author writes what they want and it's up to the readers if they like it or not. If you don't like it, simply leave and don't read it. Don't leave any more comments criticizing how the author writes their characters and the plot. Do you guys read every manga/manhwa/manhua in here and comment the same thing everytime you see the same plot? When you are reading in a library, do you preach what is wrong with the book for everybody to know? You keep quiet and read it. And if your don't like it, return it back to the shelf and leave. If you like it, you come back to read more.

And why are you bringing issues here? And i never even talked about justifying these actions. You people always preach in the comments about morals and what is right if so, please use a more appropriate platform for that. You can discuss REAL LIFE issues where real life issues are. No, I'm not that type of person. I very very rarely actually write comments or reply to comments and when I do look at comments it's to see others perspectives. The only reason I replied was because of the things you were saying.

Your first comment and your reply to mine are both extremely hypocritical. You complain about other people who preach about morals and how they should stay quiet, you also say how you come to the comment section only to see positive comments. But your entire comment is a negative opinion about how you think other people shouldn't be giving their negative opinions on the story.

Quite contradictory.

Through both your comments, the main thing you keep on repeating is how you think other people should stop preaching on morals and their dislike of the story because it's fiction. That's your opinion. Yet you are the one swearing and cursing at people on their opinions of the story... How do you want other people to not express their negative opinions when you are here expressing your own? Double standards.

On to your main reason of justifying stories that do this and not wanting people to complain because it's fiction. Yes it's the realm of fiction and the author can create whatever they like and if they want to make such things happen to their character as a part of their story then okay.

That's not what the problem is.

Like I have already explained, there is a difference when it is being shown in a serious way as a legitimate part of that story, compared to when it is being shown in a way that romanticizes rape or forcing someone.

If people are complaining or criticizing a creator solely because a story may contain rape or sexual assault as a part of the story then that is different. They still have a right not to like it but to be hateful or criticizing to the creator would be a lot more unreasonable.

BUT, if people are criticizing the creator because they have shown these things in a way that is normalizing and sugar-coating the rape or sexual assault then criticism is more understandable. Since rape is not a fictional issue but a serious problem in real life and so it's very problematic if rape is being glamorized in a story, even if it is a fictional one, because it normalizes these serious issues that happen in real life. That is why even if it's fiction, it can still be problematic depending on how the creator is portraying it. It's also why some people start talking about the real life issues and morals.

You do also normalize the sexual assault with your line of: "this is typical in yaoi. you know it's typical in yaoi why do you keep coming back for more?"

I already explained about this in my first comment. Even if it can be the case in some yaoi does not mean that you should expect it. Your comment suggests that because it's a yaoi, people should expect that sort of thing and not complain if they see it because it's fiction. That is normalizing it.

I'm also not the one who brought the issues here. YOU did. You approached this topic with your comment and I responded. I would not have said anything if not for seeing your comment. If I don't like a story for whatever reason, I do just simply delete it from any list I saved it to and read something else. If there are other people bringing up these issues in the comments, they are allowed to do so. Stories can make conversations, whether they are positive or negative ones. Trying to shut down any negative talk of issues in real life when they relate to issues or situations in the story is narrow minded and honestly ridiculous.

Most story creators post content knowing that it can receive many different types of reactions, it's a part of life. Even if there was no rape or sexual assault, there are still people who may not like a story and who may express that. I agree that people don't need to unreasonably criticize an author if they don't like something that happens in the story, but if you are criticizing an author because of something problematic about the story, like showing rape in a romanticizing way, then in my opinion, the criticism is more reasonable.

In the end, it seems like you are the one who cannot handle seeing others negative opinions on the story so if you don't like their comments, why not take your own advice and stay quiet? You have a right to not like or agree to what some comments have said and you don't have to agree with their reasons for disliking the story, just as they don't have to like the story or the content and they have a right to express that. If you want to see positive comments then scroll past negative ones and try and find the positive ones, or write your own positive comment.
