the reality is that rape is very damaging to someone's psyche and its not cool to just use it as a plot devise to bring two characters together romantically. a good love story doesn't need to have rape in it. maybe in the future with people commenting on things like this and bringing it up, the trope will leave. as it is now, the trope is almost synonymous with romance and that isnt ok.
now this doesn't mean that people shouldn't write about rape, or enjoy stories with rape in it, but people should definitely not be excusing the behavior. I understand that a lot of people don't actually know what constitutes rape and consent, and that is why i comment on these stories.
