i agree with you. i understand the concubine, she had power and affection and from one day to the next her power is taken away and her husband distrust and avoid her. and that had big consequence in how she would be treated by the household staff... i can't really blame her for trying to save herself and not dying with jun shao in their last life too.

At first I disagreed with the slap cuz it seemed too bad, she's a woman after all and Jing Shao a robust man so that must've hurt. But the more I discussed with ppl in the novel forum the more I can see it more in their setting. Ancient palace manner and hierarchy.

What Jing Shao did was putting her on her place. Jun Qing might have used his advantage as a wangfei to help his ppl but SLX also did that while she was the main consort. She deliberately running the household to her own advantage (giving imbalance day of Wangye visit to her etc and the book accounts).

In the novel it was even clearer how she rudely opposed to Wangye's words in front of everyone which is very improper etiquette-wise since he's the master of the house and actually warrants more corporal punishments than just a slap. The problem with this girl is she really didn't know when to stop and acts as if she owns the house, not wangye's.

But other than that her logic was right, it's just a matter of JS already sick of her pretentious acts when he already knows what she's scheming. i reckon is more to the fact that she is in no place in lecturing wangfei when she already repeatedly taken advantage for herself using her own status prior.
Like all these ppl are scum to them so why wud they have to stay pure and endure it when they can do the same lol

It was not about them being women or not...its about how that woman disrespect towards wangfei..his hierarchy is upper than the main consort...for a main consort to intterupt with the management of the household affair is bad cuz that task is supposed to be wangfei(official wife)'s task...think about it in modern perspective...a mistress manage a household of a man and then come the wife(official wife by law) so in any way the mistress must not disrespect the wife cuz she actually has no real power...her power before were just there because the official wife doesn't exist yet...and the fact that that woman is the first one to turn her back on when he is need of help just add up his anger towards him....but welp slapping is not good but she deserve it cuz in the future chapter...I FEEL SO FUCKING ANGRY WITH THAT WOMAN I WANT HER DISAPPEAR QUICKLYYYYY

The slap thing was bad but tbh if the other person deserved it then the gender doesn't matter. Like if you'll slap a guy for doing something, you can slap the girl too if does the same. I just thought that what she said about the nanny and servants made sense. You can't just allow a random person in prince's manor. She was bad in the previous life to run away like that but tbh I would do the same . That's just human nature, we're all selfish at the end. Unless I really loved him, I would not stay . I don't think she loved him but that is justified too because he wasn't that sincere either. He treated his wangfei like shit in previous life so I can see that. I don't blame her much but Jing Shao has the right to be disappointed and mad but he should just leave her instead of torturing her ( though he does divorce her later). I just think that that scene was unnecessary. Maybe because I'm reading a lots of transmigration novels/manga that I think about stuff from other character's shoes as well. If the story was from her view, she wouldn't seem bad at all, instead she might even be called badass FL. It's all about whose point of view it is.

the slap for the side consort is well deserved bc in the novel it stated that the side consort abuses the power that gave to her by the main wife.

Nag, she definitely deserved that slap. She overstep her place by disrespecting the Wangfei, someone who’s position is higher than hers. Furthermore, she have always spies on Jing Shao and telling her father, that’s why he got accused of treason in the first timeline.

I also felt uncomfortable with this scene at first. It really wasn’t a reasonable/ necessary response. But I don’t try to justify it based on the rules. The slap was fueled by ML’s anger at her for her abandonment in the past life. Like, how can traitor have the audacity to say this to the person who stood by him and died for him.

Yup!! However, it isn’t as simple as that. This is Chapter 19 of the novel. Her point of bringing the nanny and the servants and the whole point of “unfamiliar low lives” or people of “unknown origins” coming and “not knowing what might happen” is her actually actively insisting and insulting Jun Qing. It doesn’t say it in the manhua, but she’s referring “certain activities”. She’s clearly dishonoring him. In front of Wangye. On top of the disrespect shes already shown to him?

I agree that unless I really loved a man, I would run for my life too. However, she didn’t just run for her life.

She actively participated in his down fall. In his past life and in the current one. She then proceeds to attempt to murder Mu Hanzhang later on. A slap and imprisonment are suitable punishments, atleast in my opinion.
