It would be wrong to say that races that are the objects of racism can't be racist themselves as there are many instances in where poc acted no different that the stereotypical racists but the way how it was handled here was a definite no-no. The entire black people in South Korea being racist to the Asians since they are a small minority could have been interesting since it sheds light on how some people try to sweep their own racist actions under the rug by tooting the victim card. But here the way Daniel speaks to him gives me a headache.
He could have handled it more with nuance and dropped some one liner to the bully " what makes you think you are any different from those you hate since you act the same way?" but no, he had to use the n word and fck it up. That's not how a grown up teacher behaves. Feels like a middle school comeback rather than something that could act as a lesson for readers even if it falls flat on the bully's ears.
