it’s quite hypocritical when tj is the one forcefully clinging all these years, but jo is somehow the ultimate villain as if they haven’t sorted out their core problems for the past decade. power struggle aside this entire story has been showing up how ian is terrified of the person he becomes in affiliation with the gang, and tjs worst downside is that he won’t care if ian breaks down as long as he’s by his side. it’s concerning how ian isn’t seen as his own person in the story by some readers :(

if you ever have no contact older siblings, it’s for a fucking reason?? it’s triggering to talk to someone who’s had the same parents as you but a completely different upbringing. he’s dealt with all the trauma and abandonment himself, but seeing his siblings live the life he was never given and NOT being chosen is brutal. the sister needs to understand she’s not owed a relationship being blood and it comes off so entitled to ask his partner to bring up the uncomfortable topic

it very realistically shows the fear of rejection, loneliness, and insecurity that heightens as a new college student in an unfamiliar stage of life! this has less than ten chapters, but the mc is especially inspiring by constantly evolving and working on her complexes. it’s refreshing seeing her openly express her flaws and actively be reassured by the people around her that she’s SO much more than what her intrusive thoughts tell her
i still find this story really intriguing and the characters complex but the backstory to his kidnapping makes me upset because he’s just been a victim his whole life iykwim
i enjoy yanderes but mc spent his entire childhood then adulthood living for others (heeseo and being a perfect stranger in an adopted house). im not at the stage of acceptance yet, im still mourning how he’s always punished situations that were forced on him
there’s this one account i had to block for saying the most annoying and horrible takes about soo-ae and glazing tf outta raim. i hate when readers with underdeveloped brains try to make nuanced takes about kind, friendly, and bubbly main characters because nothing is wrong with those traits or inherently boring. it feels like projection when they overly hate mc for her ability to treat everyone nicely and call her shallow for not having trauma. the hate on soo-ae is so forced because it’s easy to tell those ppl never had secure male friendships or can’t separate dohwas perspectives from mcs!!! calling her a bop or pretending to be naive is grossly misogynistic, because fl are never allowed to act human or treat others like people apparently. soo-ae has never once done anything that leaves room for misunderstanding between her/dowha and has always had a soft spot for ml
the sudden influx of raim lovers is so hilarious because they act like her. raims familial trauma and inferiority complex is something she could’ve sought help with, with soo-ae. but no, instead she relies on male validation and would rather secretly plot against her innocent best friend as a way to feel better about her circumstances and look down on mc. they overly defend her actions and think her “complexity” makes her likable… but did they know bad characters can be held responsible or disliked for doing bad things LMAO?? there’s honestly nothing enjoyable about her personality traits unless you find manipulative, victim complex characters interesting. and that’s literally fine!! but to justify her actions and bash on mc for stupid reasons makes me laugh so badly

jo should be endgame tbh… i reread this entire webtoon because the amount of people belittling ian and jo’s connection had me feeling crazy. while i understand why there’s fans for tj and ian it’s also very easy to define their relationship as something codependent, unstable, and unhealthy in the long run. i don’t think yall remember in the beginning how it was hinted tj used to harm others, and even ian himself, because of his possessiveness and fear of being left behind. he then tied ian down by forcing him to pay an outrageous debt to keep him in the gangs clutches longer. yet i saw so many people only call out jo for saying he wanted them to have exclusive sex this chapter and calling it toxic, while completely ignoring him/tj’s long winded history of one-sided violence
with tj, ian is haunted by the past and becomes a shell of a person that’s not even himself. tj has no plans to leave the gang, and this environment turns ian into a ruthless and unfeeling machine… almost like nothing. their sex is honest and passionate because he’s not fucking for love. to him it’s an act of raw desire that distracts them from the problems they share and never wanting to open up (as ian admits). together they perpetuate a cycle of constant push and pull, where one person is always at the extreme
with jo, ian is able to take a fresh breath and feel like there’s a life that’s exists far beyond what he’s been shown. ian becomes SO curious and has endless first times when it comes to fulfilling things. it’s like his inner child is being healed, and he’s able to be young and carefree. he unknowingly lets his guard down, and is comforted by how alike they are (how they say or think the same things at the same time). jo opens up ian’s world instead of shutting him away
all this to say, i feel like the sex scenes blind tj and ian shippers + fans believe utter devotion = tj is owed love from ian, even that very devotion is harmful or manipulative. and jo doesn’t deserve as much hate as people give him
not saying the father deserves full forgiveness, but penelope feeling comforted by this game’s parent is extremely saddening. she never got to hear an apology from her previous family, and even if she did it doesn’t erase her pain or trauma. however hearing these people admit their mistakes is like a relief because now she doesn’t feel crazy or invalided for all these pent up feelings from both lifetimes

this is nitpicky but it irks me to see a traditional story have random modern elements. with this one being the starbucks dupe and trying to replicate the celebrity sponsors who walk around with the cups as merch. it doesn’t suit the story and throws me off when there was a way to create a franchise for mc without it looking out of place compared to the architecture, fashion, and overall aesthetic of the webtoon
