Flawed characters make such an awesome dynamic in literature. I love how they are portrayed here, there is something very raw about this whole situation. No one is perfect. All of the characters, especially the main character, have some sort of struggle that is pulling them in different directions, causing them to question their morality. It truly is a beautiful thing.

I remember when my dad stopped smoking. I was in elementary school, and I wanted him to live a long life! So, I looked at him with puppy eyes during breakfast and said, “Dadda, can you quit smoking? I want you to live a long life! Smoking hurts you...” He simply smiled at me and we went on with our day. I learned years later that that was the day he decided to quit cold turkey. My mom could never get him to quit, but I guess it was his little daughter that broke the last straw!
Same thing happened for my family too. Little children are powerful...
