I agree with you that the uke doesn’t appreciate Ryuji and uses him as a substitute for the guy he does like, BUT Ryuji was fully aware of the situation before he got involved with the uke. It is not like the uke lied to Ryuji and he does feel guilty.
I also think that a lot of the readers and especially Ryuji misunderstands what the uke was wanting in chapter 4. I think Keigo talking about Ryuji findings happiness through marriage and a family with a girl really shook the uke up making him. For the first time, the uke thought of Ryuji the individual not as the substitute (though he was also thinking of his own selfish desires too). In chapter 4, the uke approached Ryuji not as a substitute for Keigo but for Ryuji himself (probably for the very first time ever so it is understandable that Ryuji would misunderstand). Yes he went to Ryuji because of what Keigo said but not to pretend to be “Keigo’s wife but to pretend to be Ryuji’s wife. So he (the uke) could be Ryuji’s wife and get pregnant with Ryuji’s child and become Ryuji’s family because selfishly he doesn’t want to lose Ryuji. I also believe that the uke does truly love Ryuji but was so obsessed about Keigo that he never recognized his own feelings. He sill hasn’t recognized his feelings for Ryuji yet it is more of a subconscious awareness.
