The next 2 1/2 chapters are so painful I legit felt a lump in my throat from wanting to not cry.
It's crazy how in an adult's world, we have so much to consider just so we can blend in with society's perceived norm and also make sure the ones we love are happy, even if it sometimes mean that we forget to consider our happiness. I remember asking a friend of mine why she keeps saying she's okay after letting go of someone she loved so much even though it was obvious that she's not, and then she answered "Ah, don't you know? We say that we're okay not because we truly are, but because we hope that we will be." This story reminded me of those words because the main characters are trying so hard to appear that they're okay. (╥﹏╥)

But there's still a cliffhanger, and your hearts will be torn to pieces then mended back then torn to pieces again. The roller-coaster of emotions actually gave me whiplash,

I've read a lot of messed up yaoi mangas, some I hated, some I can tolerate, and some I actually like. But this one, this is one of those mangas where I absolutely loathe one main character. Seriously, if I could go inside the story myself, I'd most likely adopt the uke and just make sure he is safe and secured and well cared for, and then torture the seme in a basement somewhere. (ノ゚Д゚)
The seme is an absolute trash. His older brother is obviously traumatized and troubled about their situation, specially after he raped him. He is worried about their parents because he feels indebted to them and understandably horrified to find out that he is liked by his brother and what it will do to their family. But what does the younger brother do? He rapes him again. Ugh- Like really? I understand the pyschological genre tag is there for a reason, but even for that genre, this is pretty unlikeable. The seme's reasons has no depth whatsoever, other than him just being a plain douchebag. This should probably be tagged as mindbreak or something. I think that fits this more. ヽ(`⌒´)ノ
I remember a friend of mine in college who was a sex addict. She got married right after college and one time when we hung out together, she bawled her eyes out confessing to us (3 of her closest friends) that when her husband was away for a few weeks because of work, she cheated on him because of her addiction. She felt so guilty and depressed, that whenever she had sex she always cried. She always said she was addicted to sex, but whenever she does it she also always felt repulsed and hated how much she craves it. As an asexual, I could not relate to her situation, but reading stories related to sexual addiction somewhat made me understand her a little bit more. It's hearbreaking somehow.
I get that Taesoo's attitude lately has been frustrating and that it's taking a huge toll on their relationship, however, I still think it does not merit a breakup. If the problem involved cheating, or a physical, emotional, and psychological abuse then I can say that Sooha should dump his ass. However, this is not one of those issues. Taesoo is going through a state of depression and anxiety. His self-esteem has been blown to pieces and he isn't being given time to emotionally and mentally compose himself what with Mr. Hwang's dad and Sooha's mom showing up with their obsession with the marriage thing between their kids right after he broke his working hand which came after what happened with Doh. When you are in a relationship, this is one of those times when the depth of your patience, your commitment, and your understanding is tested. How far are you willing to extend your patience and understanding for the person you have chosen to be committed to when he is having a hard time and is being very difficult? How deep would your empathy and love run when the person you love has changed into someone different, someone weak and vulnerable and angsty, because he has been backed into a wall because of what he's been going through?
Taesoo had been very attentive, caring, and understanding towards Sooha when they started their relationship. When it was Sooha who was having a difficult time and shut Taesoo off (although it wasn't the same level with Taesoo's breakdown now), Taesoo stayed patient with her and listened until she opened up to him. I actually admire Sooha's patience this time, and her resolve to stay with Taesoo despite him being utterly difficult because she knows that Taesoo needs her now more than ever. That her abandoning Taesoo would probably be the last blow to both his mind and heart and Sooha doesn't want Taesoo to get even more depressed than he already is. This is what it means to be committed to someone. To stay not only when it's easy, but to have the resolve to stay when it gets difficult, when your partner who had been the pillar of your relationship crumbles and you have to put him back together, patiently, because he needs you to, now more than ever.
Although the situation is absolutely frustrating, I still root for both Taesoo and Sooha, and I hope they get through this, scarred and all, but stronger together.
And I agree too (▰˘◡˘▰)
I just finished reading the novel and I gotta say that it was an amazing journey. Although I think there will be some minor (or maybe major?) changes in the manhwa but I'm hoping it'll stick to the "no harem" thing like the novel, since I'm absolutely fed up with mangas with OP-yet-dense-and-surrounded-by-hungry-thots MC. That's why I loved the novel of this because the MC stayed badass until the very end. I'm sorry does this count as a spoiler? I hope not.
Also, I got bored and skimmed through a few other manhuas/manhwas/mangas to read since I've mostly already read those that have OP characters and I discovered the manhua HERO? I QUIT A LONG TIME AGO, and my oh my, it definitely proved to be such an entertainment. Lol. Like Jin Woo, Lin Jie (MC) is sooooo OP (although he started as an OP character unlike Jin Woo, he's probably more like Saitama in OPM), and he acts like a dumb fuck sometimes, although his other identity is soooo badass. It was hilarious how the manhua sometimes basically trolls all other famous mangas. I recommend it specially to those who wanted to read something fun and refreshing. The gals can be a bit frustrating though, but it'll be worth a read while waiting for an update with Solo Leveling.
The pacing of the story is so abrupt
