I get why people complain about the Haneil circle photo arc, and I’ve noticed that the author has a habit of leaving things on cliffhanger chapters regarding the “trouble” plot (like the one chapter ending with akira saying she don’t want to be around marin and there was no mention of it for like, 5-6 chapters after before it got resolved).

But personally, I think that the circle photo arc serves as a highlight and beautifully executed. It did took 3 chapters but I still think it was a great plot point.

With sono bisque doll, you don’t just follow the protagonists’s emotional line but also regarding the craft (cosplay).

With every cosplay Marin did, we get to see a little of the character’s original series so we can also relate and appreciate both Marin’s and Gojo’s thoughts in executing the cosplay.

What’s different between the previous cosplays with the one now is because the previous ones were shorter and simpler games/series which is why the execution and length of time the author mentioned it is shorter, meanwhile the author made a great built up for Mandate of Heaven which supposed to be a very grand, mind breaking story.

Although it seems like the chapter is stuck on Marin “getting attention”, you can actually see there’s a lot to unpack there. The whole thing about people getting obsessed with “Haneil” (Marin) to look at them even tho they knew it wasn’t really Haneil is very interesting because it really happens. And for author to “drag it out” is actually more of describing this phenomenon as best as she can and it wasn’t redundant at all. And fact is, it wasn’t even just about Haneil but also snippets of Gojo’s obsession as an artist and also to have Marin progress as a character, to prove that she’s not just a gal, or a casual ReMo, but truly a talented individual.

Also it might be unrelated but I don’t mind for Mandate of Heaven to be mentioned more because it’s truly an interesting story. (And “Coffin” too!)
