I read a couple spoilers

I dunno, you hear people with 10 year age gaps all the time. You also hear about a former student marrying their teacher. I don’t think it’s to the point of pedophillia as long as they don’t have sexual activities until they’re both adults.

I just don’t like it that he’s taking a liking to her before she’s an adult, even if there is no sexual activity. I wouldn’t mind the age gap if he fell in love with her after she became an adult like at least 20

The age of consent in Japan is 13. Deal with it. And guess what ? The percentage of teenage pregnancy in Japan is very low. You should stop acting like teenagers are all innocent youngsters who practice abstinence. And plus, he was considerate toward her so he mostly hesitated until the end. And WHO WOULD GO TO HIGH SCHOOL AT THE AGE OF 20 ? Are you really that dumb ?

Look g, I ain’t running about in Japan yh,man don’t move like that,I’m not well-informed of the laws in japan but he’s a bloody nonce,lad and you can’t change my mind. He’s moving a bit mad for a 27 year old. I get that this is a manga but still if u had a daughter of that age I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want them to have a relationship with a middle aged NEET. I’d agree to disagree but before that I want to get my opinions of my chest as you seem to be under some kind of misunderstanding.



Firstly, I’m aware of Japan’s age of consent and frankly I disagree with it but that another issue entirely. Secondly, I’m also aware that teenagers are not exactly abstinent, I’m not under some kind of illusion that they’re innocent but the fact of the matter is that they usually interact with other people of the same age group (not some middle aged person pretending to be a high schooler). Thirdly, she’s currently falling in love with him under the impression that he is of the same age and that’s what disturbs me the most and under the jurisdiction of the relife project she never will be aware. Fourthly, japan’s laws dictates that a younger person of her age can develop a relationship with someone of Arate’s age but with parental permission however as stated before he’s not allowed to share anything about the relife project so technically it’s not informed consent (to grant permission with full knowledge of the situation/ consequences) Furthermore, civil codes define everyone under 20 as juvenile having a relationship with someone under 20 can be considered as misdemeanour or a felony and can be opened up to prosecution. Fifthly, Japan’s government in the 1990’s considered increasing the age of consent however due to a murder committed by a 14 year old they decided not to as increasing th age of consent meant they had to increase the age of responsibility so such a murder would go unpunished. That is to say this doesn’t mean that every high school student is capable of giving consent Arata’s love interest for example is someone who has experienced being socially isolated for a long time, her supposed newfound love can just be a reflection of her desire to be close to others and her imprinting on the first person who chose to help her predicament. Also, I never stated that she had to still be in high school at the time, I just wished he kept in contact with her as friends and fell in love at a later stage of her life.

Additionally, studies have shown that children of teen mothers are more likely to have developmental disabilities and behavioural issues. Also considering that the human brain isn’t fully developed until the age of 25, the teen mother is not exactly mentally capable of raising a child to its full capability, though this may change with the level of support they gain. As the brain only fully matures until the age of 25, up until this age you tend to make more irrational decisions as you are not only mentally and emotionally underdeveloped but also lack the experience to make a reasonable judgement.

And you’re also making a mountain out of a molehill. The moment that Arata took his pill and change his appearance, the world perceived him as a 17-year-old. No one except the ReLIFE team knows about this project.
Because Arata didn’t know that Hishiro was a test subject, he was very respectful and cautious toward her. In fact, they only proceeded to have a hug and only had subtle declarations of love toward each other (They only told each other to “never forget each other”. That’s all). Arata clearly said that when he turned back into his real age and Hishiro might become an adult by that point, he would meet her and ask her out again.
Nothing about their relationship was physically inappropriate and in fact, it was benign and innocent in comparison to what teenagers really do. Mentally speaking, many of these characters are wise beyond their years so their possibilities of making irrational decision is very unlikely.
The ReLIFE team clearly states that they would forget each other after the experiment ended so even if they kept in touch from the beginning, the contacts would be personally deleted from the data by the ReLife’s support division. Did you really read the story or not

And hence, spare me your lecture about legal age when it’s simply an innocent story with boundaries. It only became more real after they turned back to being adults and regained their lost memories.

Just don’t go there. People just want to enjoy a good and heartwarming story. Why do you have to ruin it for everyone ? If you want something realistic, go watch a documentary/
