Well he was just sent an assassin to kill him, and then suddenly this woman comes out, ofcourse he will be alert , who will follow him after that unless they were after his life too XD

He knows who she is. He straight up tells her that he knows she is from a ducal family and that they have met before, even if briefly. So it wasn't a random woman coming for him. He even chose to reveal that only after she gave him an excuse for going after him, which, in my opinion, only shows that he was toying with her and killing her was for his own pleasure than to protect himself.
Regardless, he could've chosen to kill that assassin somewhere else, but instead he brought the guy to this party and finished him off in front of many people who didn't even have anything to do with the situation. He's not doing it for respect, he's doint it because he takes pleasure in others fearing him and that's what I mean by violent nature.

But doing that infront of people in a party DEDICATED to his psychotic family actually puts him at an advantage, politically speaking.

Killing an assassin in front of the two gives a statement not only to his brother and mom, but to any household who might want to ally with them that HE CAN'T BE MESSED WITH AND IS SETTING AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT THEIR FATES WOULD BE SHOULD THEY CROSS HIM. So I still very much thi k his actions were justified.

And let's not forget that originally everyone thinks FL is a total bitch and is dumb enough to be manipulated by his mother (no one but the FL household knows shes changed afterall), so she probably didn't have a good impression on the prince from the start, much less when he's on edge. Although I agree that wounding her was excessive as he could have easily just threatened her without actually inflicting physical harm.

That's one way to view that I guess? On the other hand his actions can be seen as deranged and tyrannical and why would any family be willing to ally with someone like that unless because they fear him? I dunno, I wasn't really talking about if his actions were a good political tactic or not lol that's another debate, what I was arguing was that was completely unnecessary and that I personally think was a f*cked up power move that shows a bad side of him. He kills at the blink of an eye and MC herself fears him the most. He was the one who killed Penellope in the original game after all.
And yeah, that's my point. He wasn't planning to just wound her, he was going to kill her without any reason other than she might have been up to something. I do think this part of him being too fast kill and doing it so sadistically it's something very hard to accept! It would've been fine if he was just..part of the cast (I wouldn't mind that at all!) but for him to be the male lead with that kind of trait??? That has toxic relationship written all over for me

Well we still dont know his point of view, from what I know he will explain it to the mc later, i guess we just need to look forward to that and dont judge from the first meeting? until we know his point of view.
