Being partner to a crime that is, sleeping with someone else's boyfriend is totally wrong. Absolutely. But all the same, I pity this guy. He was just another pawn used by the jerk seme. I mean, this guy genuinely thought the seme is a "nice man" getting dragged around by our darling protagonist so is doing him a favour by being with him. That's what he was told and that's how it looked like too, for a while until he was suddenly rejected, just like that. Out of the blue. He too, just like our Zhishu sacrificed so much for that seme bastard only to be thrown away, just like that. Getting hit by a car...sheesh..how many lives must be destroyed by that selfish seme?

I don't pity him one bit. He chose to be with a cheater and to be part of cheating. He chose to dispose of his dog. He chose not to end it gracefully and make a scene with the main spouse. So, why should I feel any pity for a person who put themselves in a position they knew was #2, not #1?

And if his choice to be part of this is why he doesn't deserve pity then, isn't Zhishu too the same? Wasn't stayinh in the relationship for so many years and not take care of his health and not go through chemotherapy Zhishu's choice? Wasn't the entire suffering his choice?

No. Zhishu and hish partner developed a relationship early and it was a good and true one. It was honest and honorable. That one changed, it's like marriage: people hang on to the good memories and hope things will get better. BTW, I do think Zhishu is a pushover. But we saw that he was willing to risk his life to take care of his sick boss and his family with SARS. His personality is the giving one. And he had a long mutually devoted relationship. He didn't know dirtbag was cheating for THREE years with someone else. He chose to suffer in silence, but part of him surely hoped the man who promised to be with him forever would notice and repair things. Hope is huge, especially when the foudnation was good, like it was in their past. They did truly love each other and build a life. One just changed.

Side hoe did know he was cheating. The relationship was NOT honorable or devoted. He knew the partner did not want to leave Zhishu and thought of Zhishu as "family." And yet he kept having the affair and even when it was over, he went to torment Zhishu, which shows what a lowlife he is.

Zhishu suffering in silence was his choice. He wasn't preying on others. The side hoe cheater is a predator, taking what isn't his and determined to take more. No, I do not feel sorry for those who choose to take what they have no right to take.
