Land of the Lustrous is truly like no other story out there. Unique, with a plot that took us to do many different places and left us in awe yet with so many mysteries. Through the whole journey, there were so many questions that burned in my head. When Phos first gets new legs, I wonder, do they get their old legs back? Then I realised as the story goes on that no, Phos will not go back to being the youngest rambunctious mint-green gem we are introduced to. What is lost is wholey gone. Does Antarcticite get to reunite with Phos? No, as fate has placed Phos far far away from ever reuniting with the gem family.
The evolution of our protagonist is so strikingly embedded in my memory, and the reason why I've stuck to this story so much sits with how far the story strays away from what I had expected or deeply hoped to happen. The whole series leaves a poignant longing for what was, and sends us barreling into what will be without any preparation. I was not prepared for Phos to just forgive everyone, and most definitely not ready for this series to end just here.
Yet at the same time, all those unanswered hopes I had, for Phos to reunite with Antarcticite, for Cinnabar to visit Phos, they all slowly receded back into quietude as the chapters drew to into the finale. Here, Phos is free, as light as dust and deserves the peace. Perhaps it's ok, all is ok and Phos is with their new family, once again to be cared for and to have fun.
ANYWAYS THAt turned out so idk, poetic like I didn't mean that to happen but the series just pulled it out of me. Like idk I'm NOT READY for this to end, but it means it's time to reread and PLS STUDIO ORANGE pls animate the entire series, I'm gonna be waiting til the sun expands I love this series so so much, ever since this one random YouTube vid of padparadscha inspired me to seek the anime out thank u Phos for taking me on this journey
Actually curious about how this would play out now that some spoilers are out abt who isn't end-game but I think that's ok, I'm here to just really enjoy the pacing + mystery of this story >w<

Omg like this story has been Hella amazing, it's paced well, the characters are well developed and very lovable AND GARI I ADORE YOU SO MUCH, I really can't be glad enough that I found this fic. Idk man but I LOVE THE HAIRSTYLES OF THE MEN?? like there's just subtle design choices with hair length, accessories etc and it just works so well. The authors note was also so cute and consoled me about the ending. (▰˘◡˘▰) I love this one very much <3 I gushed over the plot, cried over the characters and laughed along when Hwi and Gari had some unintended bromance going on xD I GOTTA SAY I was low-key anxious that the subordinate of Gari's was gonna be revealed to be a girl and have some other romance plot go on, so I'm really glad that anxiety was unfound and the story remained focused.
