the dude is 17 who just discovered that his childhood friend who is probably 11 or 12 have a HUGE crush on him ofc Yuu doesn't want to hurt the kid's feeling so he's just going with whatever, thinking that he might get over it soon and i believe he doesn't want to give Tsubaki a heart breaking memory of his "1st love" no one wants that even us specially if we are close to that person. He even said it in this chapter that let's get this punishment over with specially after seeing how sad Tsubaki was.
Let's blame the real culprit here "Tsubaki's classmate parents" the one who reads yaoi. i think they are at that age where they start talking about stuff like that but bro he just want Tsubaki to skip all the levels and get directly to the main point. His mom or sis or whatever shouldn't let him read +18 books.
