Here's some reasons why I personally don't as of now:
1. Is ok with "replacing" ophelia (I presume because he felt guilty?)
2. Even became her escort
3. Only to abandon her to go to Emilia (if you're gonna escort someone do it right)
4. Doesn't even try to understand why Emilia would leave and only wants her to "stay within his sight"
5. If he really did have feelings for Emilia he should've told her or told his fiance ophelia (I'm sure she'd be fine with that and even ship it)
6. He is so bland, the two other guys are more interesting but I don't want any of them to end up with Emilia
7. I feel like he wants to bake the cake and eat it too. Trying to go for Emilia all the while he had elodi and (formerly) ophelia for his backup.

outside of them both looking alike I don't have anything against him other than so far he's boring for a reader cause he only does what his family wants him to. He was engaged to Ophelia because of it, is escorting Elodie because of it.
When Ophelia died not only did he lose a friend he had been conditioned to think of as his future wife his entire life, he realizes the person who he thought would always be there is gone and has regrets. Now he keeps making impulsive decisions in the moment when he sees her cause he repressed himself so much.
Ophelia def would not have shipped it, I don't think she would have wanted anyone to be with Emilia besides herself if she were alive. Her main character trait is that she's selfish and rude lmao Emelia also wouldn't have liked anyone enough to leave Ophelia they had a weirdly obsessive dependence on each other.

She knew she was dying and in chapter 1 when Emilia said "should I die with you?" Ophelia basically said no go live and do the things I couldn't. Which included dating and she even imagined a wedding dress for Emilia. She's not THAT selfish lmao, all she wanted was for Emilia to remember her even if others forget.
Which is why I dislike raretis, sure he's just following what the family wants but can't he speak up?! Even a dying girl has more guts and mouth than him. God I wish ophelia didn't die and just took away emilia (I'm pretty sure raretis is the ml that's why I'm more harsh to him)
