I don’t think this is a misunderstanding exactly… it’s more like a lack of comprehension. it’s just depressing to me that the mc has so much self doubt that he can’t even see when someone is clearly doting on him. Like who on earth has someone driving them to and from school each day and buying them breakfast?? Remembering details of every tiny interaction? A person would only do that out of devotion to you
Not all times, a guy I once had a crush on did that to me for around 4 months and when I confessed he told me he was just being friendly, saw me as a good friend and actually had a gf nowadays I just don't try taking hints anymore, trauma runs hard
