This is gonna sound like bs and I know a lot of people won't agree with this (if they read it). Natsuki clearly says that he forgot the feelings he once had, those details that became mundane. But it's a fact that he cheated on Arata, he was wrong, but at some point it's complicated to turn back. Arata was desperate, and I'm not saying that beat the crap out of Natsuki was the solution, but he would've stopped if Natsuki told him to stop and that he didn't want to continue that relationship. The fact that Natsuki let Arata beat him, was because he felt like crap. Natsuki wasn't enjoying it either. Natsuki clearly could just break up with him, but they still had feelings for each other. I f he just went and ignored him and would end up everything, Arata would've prolly just tried to get himself hurt in any other way possible. I don't know if I actually said something that had sense, maybe I'm just overly sensitive in this subject cause I've been there... (except that there was not any physical aggressions). I don't know if I should call it a really toxic relationship or a really idiotic one...
