Im confused with Jay's fam backstory but his mom's slaying tho for sure.
Jay is the grandson of the Han Family patriarch, his grandfather, a company that owns the biggest amount of shares in the Dream company. His father left Jay’s mom and got remarried, to which Jay’s mom tries to take custody of him. Jay was stuck with his grandfather for a year while his mom fought for custody, and during that time his mom instructed him to act dumb so his grandfather wouldn’t take interest in him. Because he acted dumb, his grandfather outcasted him and Jay’s mom got custody.
On the other hand, the owner of Alice’s Labyrinth is Jay’s half uncle, the son of the Han Family patriarch via an affair. Because Jay doesn’t get along with his dad (for cheating on his mom and abandoning him) Jay is much closer with his uncle and mom, and has no connections to the rest of the family.
Now, Jay’s grandfather wants to give Jay the family fortune because he is the most successful and runs the dream company, but Jay’s father wants that money so he is upset at Jay’s uncle for being so close to him (which he interprets as him trying to get the fortune, rather than his uncle just loving him).
TLDR: Rich family, owns the company he works at, is only close to his mom and uncle because the rest are douchey people.
I love how this story shows an individual's eccentricity yet somehow it assures us knowing there will always be someone who would accept us out there. 10/10
