I don't think you realize how much a sheltered life could leave you knowing nothing. She never experienced any mistreatment from her family, so why would she assume they are mistreating others? All it takes it one person to show you the world but without it, you know nothing but what is presented to you. Someone who's lived in riches can't possibly ever know what a poor person lives in.

I suggest you re read the chapters 13/14. She knew somethings wrong but as long as her father says it is NOT, ok for her. She witnesses what happen et meet Catherine eyes but forgets it the second after. And as she says herself, she didn't want to know ...
What is good Reading IS you can have the perspective of the all caracters and eventually choose your side depending of your background ans values.

I am a black person as well, and I've acknowledged that some people just don't know.
You have cartel leaders who have children who don't know that their fathers are evil.
You have racist cops who have children who see them as heroes because that is all they know.
There have been serial killers who have had well loved families.
They might not be innocent but they are blameless in situations involving their parents.
Scenarios like this aren't impossible and as rare as you think.
If you try hard enough, you can shelter people from things you don't want them to see.

I kind of agree with you. Mohammad Ali once said "service to other people is the rent you pay for your room on earth." Ignorance is a sin. & when u r born into power & money it is your duty to uphold proactivity in knowing the things around you and take a little step if u can. FML isn't completely sinless. But ML's way of blaming it all on her isn't right either. Forgiveness could've been the right choice here which is one of the greatest virtues a human should instill in themselves to bring peace. After all ML has already destroyed her whole family.
It's getting boring. His ( the old King) sister and Lucas grandmother ran away from him because of that attitude. And Judith is too passive bearing this.
