Yes, it’s actually was a trend in 1980s-2000s. They are called yakuza beads but since the yakuza was super popular then, many inmates would imitate it with what they had on hand. Marbles were a very common way to do it since they ofc didn’t have access to surgery.

Yes, it would hurt and I imagine infections aren’t uncommon especially since they don’t have the right tools but I guess aesthetics are more important to some just how they get tattoos in there.
