500-380= 120 not friends of groom
500-330= 170 not friends of bride
120+170= 290 friend of only one party.
500-290= 210 attendees both bride and groom friend.

    idk that's my answer hh

that's my answer to but I don't know if this need solution/formula lol

    harubb April 29, 2021 4:58 am

it's a probability assignment so probably not or something.. i didn't really use formulas in school unless required what's important is that i got the answer right lol

me too actually, but my teachers are really sensitive abt that kind of thing (not having formulas/solutions) coz they think that the student cheated lol.

You can express your solution through venn diagram approach.

    Let say:
n(A)= attendees are friends of the bride
n(B)= attendees are friends of groom
n(AUB)= total number of attendees (A union of B)

Find n(AnB) =? (A intersection of B which is the attendees from both bride and groom)

    Solution:
    n(AUB)= n(A) + n(B) - n(AnB)
    500 = 380 + 330 - n(AnB)
    n(AnB) = 710 - 500
    n(AnB) = 210

It's just my opinion but you can use this for detailed solution. I hope this helps :)

    n(A)- bride friends=380
    n(B)- groom friends=330
    n(AUB)- all attendees=500
    Using n(A(intersection)B)=n(A)+n(B)-n(AUB)= 380+330-500=210
