Tbh i dont feel like the author wants to portray abuse or r4pe as something "romantic" or "hot" but rather it's showing us how problematic Hwan has been sonce the beginning and that we shouldn't have trusted him (I've always felt like he was fishy). Sooner or later Chiwoo will realize (hopefully) and I don't think he'll want to stay with Hwan
