If people question why a story with a relationship with rape and abusive power dynamics in its core has such a high rating (since the story is practically non existent- or is just plain bad) and what it says about the readers and how they don’t care for good stories anyways, readers will say “you’d never know since you didn’t read it pee pee poo poo”. However if one does read it and then criticises the plot and romanticisation of rape, it’s the same old “BuT ThE WarNiNG11!” excuse. That warning, and I cannot understand why it takes so much to get it through your thick skulls, means jack shit. Some of my favourite fiction, including works of Toni Morrison, include uncomfortable topics of CSA and Rape. They are Essential to her stories of poverty and inter generational trauma, but they’re treated with the respect they deserve. It’s not “brushed aside” as if rape is just no biggie and the plot doesn’t include a cute romance between the rapist and the victim. That’s what is called romanticisation of rape (and before you complain about how it not romanticisation, buy a dictionary you illiterate fucks). It’s romanticisation because their romance literally started with the Seme raping the Uke and the Uke being like whoops that’s a okay lemme feel jealous now. Also, about Karen’s. Lol, Karen’s are not some apolitical entity that mildly pulls people out of their comfort zones by being critical of shit.
