I’ve been following the og artist for a while now, few years, give or take. I adored their art style, so I sought them out and even though I know zero mandarin, I managed to find their Facebook page and also a portfolio (after a very long journey lol.) It seems like they were influenced by “Western” animation/art because as I can remember from the artwork in the portfolio, it gave off a more Western artist vibe, which in turn influenced their art in BD303, which is why the art and story were just so unique and generally nice to look at, in contrast to a plethora of other BL manhua that are either not very well-drawn, or they look like all the others.

BD303 was a serious breath of fresh air when it was in that artist’s hands, so I was totally bummed when I came back to it after a long while of not reading to…whatever the heck this is.

I mean, a lot of people may not have noticed this at first, but the art actually underwent a style change even before with the OG artist, as they were experimenting with different coloring techniques, so after a while, their art got more “softer” but it didn’t lose any of its original charm. But *this* is just sad.

I checked the artist’s Facebook page again recently out of curiosity, and they mentioned way back in August of 2023, that they quit doing the art for BD303 and that PXTAR (the company/group that produces the story) were looking for someone else to take over.

I’m still happy for the artist, because they mentioned that they were more satisfied doing their own thing—V-Tubing, WAY more original art and stories, etc. But I will miss them working on this manhua. Goes to show that art can most definitely make or break a story.
