In yaoi, I heavily dislike: "I'm straight but gay for you." Once in a while, it's an enjoyable and amusing read but the concept is used repeatedly. The seme only begins likes the uke because of his femininity the majority of the time. When he thinks about liking men with muscles, beards, hairy body parts, or masculine features then it's always "disgusting/impossible." An example of this is Okane Ga Nai. So if the uke didn't have the appearance of a woman, the seme wouldn't be interested? WRITE A JOSEI MANGA THEN.
A few certain concepts are re-used such as:
- Playboy seme/Innocent uke.
- R*pe.
- Internalized homophobia, that often goes unaddressed or changed.
- Female villains/b*tches. This fuels misogyny.
- Huge seme/Tiny uke.
- Cruel seme/Pushover uke.
I enjoy reading some of these concepts (except for 2, 3, 4, and 6), but it's getting old! I feel like I have read the same story ten times. Stories like sign, cherry blossoms after winter, and wolf in the house do so well because of the originality. The lack of sexualities explored in yaoi is sad and upsetting... it's GAY manga. It's rare for a seme to be gay, bi, or even pan!! Where's the representation?
Yeah, I don't really like "I'm only gay for you" and "gay x straight" as a whole tbh. If you like someone of the same sex, you aint straight. I also don't like the whole chasing after someone until they like you thing. I've had people do that in rl and it's very uncomfortable since they were never anyone I was interested in. It can be very discouraging when you read things that have poor representation or that have some really awful stuff.
That's what westerners think. Manga is intended for japanese or at least asian, and they would never care about your opinion. Not that you guys pay, right? I occasionally bought tankobon with great art even if it would cost a lot , in order to appreciate the artists . usd 20 per book bcause shipping fee.
Manga is not intended for Asians. Manga sells globally. If it were only meant for Asians then there wouldn't be 1) english translations and 2) availability to purchase in countries other than Asia. I do purchase manga: painter of the night, one-piece, attack on titan, and finder are some of the few. Not fair of you to say people who don't purchase manga can't have an opinion though... some just can't afford it. Your comment was pointless and rude.
Some of them do. You just gotta look for them. I do believe there's a few groups that has manga with lgbt representation in it. If you go to list tags, you can search by terms like "lgbt" etc. I know there was one I read just recently where the main character was struggling with his identity most of the book 'cause it was a mutual love, but he was afraid to come out 'cause of what happened to another student who was gay.
I see some people confused so let me explain the story so far.
The pastor is named Peter. He works at a church while taking care of orphaned children. The serial killer was one of the many children who grew up in the church. His name is John. Since John was a small boy, it's clear he's had... issues. Serial killers lack human emotions which is why they can do what they do. However, we see that John loves/cares for Peter.
Does Peter love John? I am not sure. Though he definitely cares for him. It's why he saved him and took him to hide in the church when he was going to be hanged. Even had an editor lie in the newspaper about John's execution (ch 8).
Now onto Penny. In the beginning, it's revealed that Peter is giving children to a p*dophile in exchange for profitable articles about the church. He asks John for help in taking the next child: Penny. John kills the poor boy. Why? He wanted to provoke Peter as he has done since he was a child—Peter says this.
The most recent chapter is taking us through the old days of John and Peter. Something happened between them that led to John completely losing it (ch 5). Peter abandoned John when he was 16... or so John says in chapter 5. I believe Peter was the one keeping him "controlled" until that event, which hasn't been revealed yet.
Thanks mate!
No problem! Glad I helped!! (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
Thank you for this
No problem (▰˘◡˘▰)
Peter is a priest, not a pastor. Therse two are from different sectors.
I also think John was already hung but was brought down while he was still able to be recuperated. This may explain how he thought he was supposed to be dead when he woke up in bed. Saving him prior to hanging could have resulted to the public knowing he's alive and couldn't have supported his fainting and waking up inside the church.

THANKS, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT LOLOLOLOL! ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄
I don't think John was hung then resuscitated, a lot doesn't add up. When a person is hung, their neck usually snaps. The possibility of resuscitating them is very rare. If they manage to survive then they face numerous complications, even possible death again. So why isn't John's neck snapped? How is he alive? Why can he waltz around like nothing afterward?
If your words are true then the author made this part of the story unrealistic... though the majority of this story is unrealistic, isn't it? (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
Thanks for your comment!!! I appreciate it!!! (⌒▽⌒)
Thank you very much!
I was so confused through out the story but I still wanted to read it. Lolლ(´ڡ`ლ)
Np!! Glad too help ヾ(☆▽☆)
A person's neck doesn't always snap, it's preferably if it does because it's an immediate death but if there isn't enough force when they drop, it won't break. So it is possible that he was hung but he would have experienced a lot of pain/strangulation prior to being cut down.

Morning discussions are not my forte.
