there something bugging me, i am not expert at botany but when i seing at mikage's bedroom, what a big amount of plant.
As far as I know, during the day plants produce oxygen (O2) and inhale carbon dioxide (CO2), while at night, on the contrary, plants produce carbon dioxide (CO2) and inhale oxygen (O2).
mikage should have trouble sleeping because they have to fight for oxygen with plants at night.

Plants do release some of the CO2 they take in during the day at night. But, only a bit. Unfortunately, I don't know what the ratio is.
I also meant to add: they do take oxygen at night, again, only a bit. It's part of their respiration process. Also, some plants don't necessarily take go through this process, I believe our couple has a mix of them.

They need the carbon (C) from the CO2 to grow, and they release the oxygen (O2) as a waste product of their processing.
This is why plants and animals can live together. Our respiratory process is the opposite of their photosynthesis. We take in oxygen and released carbon dioxide, while they take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen.

Where did you get the idea that they arbitrarily change processes at night? That’s like humans suddenly needing water instead of oxygen. An ongoing process like respiration cannot just suddenly switch to a different process. That would alter the balance of everything. EVERYTHING!!!
Even if they did somehow miraculously become plants that take in oxygen at night, it wouldn’t be enough for it to be a problem for humans to breathe.
