I love this series so much. It's so heartwarming and I'm such a crybaby. I already struggle with heart issues. This manga is trying to kill me. Seriously though, this is such a sweet story. I don't want it to be over. It's too good!

PetitFae March 25, 2020 6:38 am

I came into this knowing that this was going a be a smut heavy manga. I have read Sakira's work, so I know that it can be done well. I just didn't really feel anything for any of the characters. There was no romance in sight. I am not convinced at all that there was.
Arashiro didn't just objectify Amamiya, he was essentially dehumanizing him too by reducing him to his body part. How can you go from that to saying you love him only to continue obsessing over said body part when you're together.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: rape is not a seasoning. It doesn't make a BL more interesting when you sprinkle it in. It's always going to be disgusting no matter how hot the characters are. This manga should just be called Sexual Harassment because that is all there was. The only plot that existed was shit and it left me feeling more annoyed and exhausted.
This could have been done so well but it was executed so poorly! I really was hoping to like it but none of the characters were likable except maybe the guy that Arashiro is friends with...forgot his name and I am too lazy too look at this point.

I 100% agree with you, its hard to find a good manga/manhwa that has a good plot instead of glorified rape.

If you are interested i highly recommend you read On or Off, it has a very good story line, consensual s*x, and good character development. Works like On or Off or Hondo Yajuu is hard to find on on this site

You are evasive with the questions Jonathan has for you, then you get a call that you need to walk away in order to receive and then you have is him go out to buy you various things. You are not craving sweets. You're using that bullshit as an excuse to get him out of the house so that you can do whatever it is that you need to do and that call was the catalyst for that. I bet you that he was waiting for that call. He is probably meeting someone and needs Jonathan out of the house long enough so that he can meet whoever the fuck for whatever the fuck.

Also, can you all stop spoiling the story?! Do you have boner for ruining the plot for other people? I'm looking at one of these comments as I write. Stop! It's not a good look for you. Let people enjoy the unveiling of things as the plot unfolds. FFS!!

I just cannot with his username! What the hell? *taps mic* Another player has entered the arena!
Anyway this whole chapter was so wholesome and sweet I got a cavity. Course we have the obligatory foreshadowing at the end, because we all saw that coming a mile away when Eugene introduced.
Eugene, I'm gonna level with you here. I know you were having a hard time because you had to deal with a bigoted family member getting in the way of you having a relationship with the guy you like. Trust me, being a queerdo myself I am no stranger to that. However time has moved on. So you should too. I know it hurts, and sucks total butt. So it may take some time to find peace. I really am hoping you have a support network to help you. I hope you find someone who will make you happy and loved.
Well, that being said...... don't cha cha slide your way into a budding romantic relationship just to get the guy you want.... or you're gonna catch these hands.

I gotta admit that I was distracted by how wet their hair was the whole time. I couldn't stop thinking, "For the love of god, just dry your hair!" That's really a me thing though, it has no bearing on the actual content which was great!
I have a soft spot for when characters allow themselves to be vulnerable and are honest with their feelings. It really warms my heart. I'm a huge cry baby so I was kind close to tears, but I held myself back because I unironically cried while reading....well a lot of well written stories out there.
I am so torn though! I want to read more about Mr. Yoon and Byul but I want to see what's up with Jaehwan and Dongho.

PetitFae February 29, 2020 2:06 pm

I honestly don't even have an idea what could possibly happen next. All I can really say is I am here for. The Drama Llama is coming and things are most likely going blow up in someone's face. There's too much going on for something not to go horribly wrong.

PetitFae February 29, 2020 11:50 am

Fuck you Jayce!! As an older sibling, I know how it feels to want to protect younger siblings. It's so pathetic and ridiculous how Jayce held onto his unreasonable hatred for so long. Like does he not have a life?! I would say he's a parasite but that would be an insult to parasites. We're gonna need to throw the whole character out. There is no redeeming qualities in that bitch. He's not worth saving.

I am genuinely confused as to what happened between Aiden and Daniel. It's clear that Daniel cares about Aiden. Maybe there was so horrible misunderstanding. I am actually more interested in that...but let's be real...we all want to see Jayce be put in his place. I am actually going to make popcorn for the event because shit is about to go down.

[Warning: I tend to write a lot.]

Carter, you're an asshole! How about you listen and stop coming to conclusions on your own? Stop leading four men on and just come out with how you feel!
He clearly is biased towards Zac. He isn't giving Charles or Julian the time of day. Honestly Charles was a bit desperate at first but I don't think he's an evil man or anything. And I mean COME ON! He asked him a million times if it was okay to have sex, and fucking Carter assured him it was okay. He wasn't going to regret it and even if he did, it was HIS DECISION. His bitch ass wakes up the next day and has no memory of what happened because drunk sex always a bad decision. In his head, I'm sure that he painted Charles as an assailant. He wasn't. You asked for it quite literally Carter. I honestly am pretty pissed at how Charles is brushed off like that.
There is not much backstory with Julian. Okay, Julian wanted to live with Carter and was asking Carter to give him his answer. It's not that hard to come up with a decision. This is not rocket science! There are two choices: yes or no. Pick one Carter and stop making your partner insecure about your relationship. Why couldn't you just be honest with him and tell him how you feel? Why do you need more time to think about it? If you really need to think about, it most likely means you don't want it. We later hear that apparently Julian was entitled and arrogant, but there are no flashbacks of him being a dickbag. He is one now though and should have a restraining order put against him. He's giving me creepy vibes.
Now that I've read this far, I feel like I have to see it to the end. It's not on my priority list, but I really need to see who Carter decides to be with. Most people are saying Charles. At this point in the story, it looks like it's Zac, but who the hell knows at this point?! Carter can't make up his fucking mind! He is just saying and doing things in the heat of the moment without fully thinking them through. Pretty selfish.
This is quite literally a messy ass soap opera of story and I need a Relpax if I'm gonna be continuing to read this.

PetitFae February 25, 2020 6:12 am

[Warning: I tend to write a lot, so this is long. It's not directionless rambling if you feel like engaging.]

None of you are free from sin! What the hell was this?! At a certain point in reading this, all I could think was, "NO! OH GOD NO! The mangaka is gonna make this a threeway, isn't she?!" I was fucking right. I always am...regrettably.
There's nothing I love more than a threeway with the guys that brutally raped me. What are you talking about?! I love them! It's entirely healthy and not at all toxic.
This was just rape, rape and more rape with a generously drizzling of blackmail and oh look!--more rape.
I really liked the mangaka's other work "Itou-san". It was fucked up but it had a purpose. It had direction and it had closure! I need closure!
For me, when rape is in fiction, it needs to serve a purpose. Rape should not be there for the story to be "edgy" or "dark". Rape for the sake of rape is bullshit. What are you trying to accomplish by adding it? If the story is the same without it, then don't add it. Of course this manga wouldn't exist without it. Rape is the entire backbone in which the story lives. It's founded blackmail, and a reverse power dynamic. It's founded on contempt, shame, and internalized emotions. I don't mind reading fucked up shit. I've read stuff and watched things with rape, pedophilia, necrophilia, cannibalism, and torture. With those I walked away with some understanding of the author's intentions. It could be to show to brutality of humans, to be a traumatic point in the characters life that greatly affects their decisions, thought process, etc. The story could could entirely twisted and show that the roots of violence are not always something that can be understood. It's not something that can be explained away.
I really thought that there was going to be a pivotal point in this manga. There was, but not in the way that I had expected. I didn't seemed that the teacher was genuinely happy in the end. Maybe it's just me. It seems that even if he was genuinely happy, it was not coming from an entirely healthy place. He seemed resigned to his fate as do many characters in these twisted tales tend to be. I feel that the relationship will not be healthy because it was born out of toxicity and oh--rape! If this story were to continue on for twenty or more chapters, I find it hard to believe that anyone would be truly happy with the set up for long. It wouldn't be long before shit hits the fan and things get violent.

On the first half of your comment I thought you liked this story. It’s good to be curious and question stories like these but it’s fiction and obviously in real life No One should be in these kinds of relationship that are toxic and just messed up.

With all due respect, I don't understand why comments like this constantly pop up whenever anyone, including myself, speaks out on issues of rape in fiction. I am confident that I know the difference between fiction and reality.
I have over a decade of experience reading yaoi and I know my way around the genre. I could write an entire dissertation about how heterosexual women glorify abuse, objectify queer men and how this bleeds into their twisted idea of a healthy relationship. I have personally seen what happens when a woman falls into toxic unhealthy relationships.
Fiction is shaped by reality and reality can be shaped by fiction. Women have played a big role in normalizing rape and toxic relationships. In addition, the characters are queer men. What are cisgender heterosexual women trying to say about M/M relationships when the majority of their work revolves around abusive in M/M relationships? How does this affect the perception of MLM in a country where there is already very little education and understanding of what homosexuality is? How have fujoshi contributed to the negative perception of queer men in Japan? These are questions people should be asking. If being gay in Japan is considered a kink, wouldn't it be because women have been writing explicit fiction about gay men and because these pieces of work have received so much notoriety, it has shaped how the country views sexual minorities? Just think about it. It's not far fetched.
"Oh, but it's just fiction." Another example of fiction normalizing something inexcusable is pro-slavery fiction. It was created around the time that people were fighting to emancipate slaves. The whole concept of this was to push the idea that slavery was beneficial for the slaves and well as the slave owners. Now there are people who turned chattel slavery into a fetish and write novels based off of it. I always amused at how fujoshi underestimate the power and influence of fiction and how fiction has played a role in historic events.
Considering that rape is a real thing, it is ridiculous to try to make any separation between it and reality. I lived in a house where domestic violence occurred. People do put up with this shit even though they need to leave. It's irresponsible for an author to write about real things and then try to downplay the seriousness of it. That's like if I wrote about human trafficking and make light of the whole thing and when I receive backlash, I get defensive and say, "Why are you being so sensitive, it's just fiction?" See the topic that I'm talking about in my book is not fiction. If it was about unicorns, I would be right. But it is not.
Every piece of fiction is going to be subject to scrutiny and dissection. People have written far more than I have on books. Saying, "It's fiction" is not an acceptable response nor does it make any sense considering that the topic at hand is real and people, like the characters in the book, actually exist. I like to be honest in how I evaluate manga. BL is no exception to that.

Why have you been reading a genre for 10 years that you know has rape in it? Also you say straight women fetishize gay men what does that make you then? You just admitted that you've read this genre over for 10 years. You can't complain about other people fetishizing gay men when you do the same thing yourself. It doesn't matter if you are gay or bisexual you're still doing the same damn thing as these straight women. You can talk about how much rape there is in yaoi and people will still say the same thing that its just fiction and continue reading it. You won't change anyone's mind because everyone already knows how much rape there is in yaoi. Yet I know even after writing this stupid fucking essay you will still continue to read yaoi then be suprised when there is rape in it again. Why don't you denounce yaoi then instead of hate reading it? Talk about how bad it is and switch over to a genre that doesn't have this amount of rape in it. Gee I wonder why you read a genre that you hate because of the amount of rape there is in I wonder what could you be getting out of it

    pictured March 19, 2020 10:14 am

I've always interpreted the ending as the teacher giving up on himself and resigning to his fate. I doubt he actually is happy/has feelings for either of them. It seems more as though he's exhausted and punishing himself for being "tarnished" and breaking the morale code of a student-teacher relationship. And I also doubt that she meant to depict the rape in this manga as a turning point of romanticism. To me, it's more of a sad manga with a sad ending masked as a happy ending, which I'm guessing is what the author wants to convey. Throughout, there's just an unsettling, sorrowful element to it, which makes us look deeper at the ending. We can all see the unhealthy dynamics and the teacher's end of the rope. It's not happy at all:)

i wholeheartedly agree. as a victim of sexual assault i found this to be incredibly toxic and triggering. rape for the sake of rape in manga is frustrating because it provides no background or character development. if in other manga rape is used to accurately portray the mental aspect or to show some sort of positive outcome then fine, whatever but this was such a toxic group of people and no one in the situation would be happy except for the rapists. this manga gets a 0/10 from me.

i feel as thought you completely disregarded their point. the fact of the matter is that rape, in any genre should not be glorified or romanticized. while yes, the yaoi community often depicts rape as a romantic thing and it typically ends in happily ever after, there are so many instances where that is not the case and it ends in a normal, societally accurate way. the point that they were trying to make is that the (typically female) authors of these manga often glorify M|M relationships and hence glorify EVERYTHING that’s involved in them, including rape or abuse. the point is that they need to know how to differentiate between what’s okay and what isn’t okay. they simply pointed out an issue in a sub genre(rape/abuse) of a MASSIVE genre(yaoi). it’s unfair to ask them to swear off an entire genre of manga they like to read simply because they have an opinion about rape in yaoi.
