Tbh, I thought this was pretty bad at first, while reading the first volume, but then I reached the second volume and it had a HUGE step up, and now it's among the best BL's I've ever read. This coming from a picky reader (I mean I enjoy most things that I read, but I'm very critical).
So please don't give up on this one until you have read vol 2 at least (I was about to give up myself).
I'll say this is not for those who prefer your BL to be fluffy and cute or in general just the typical BL you see a lot of. This is for those who like the deeper, more meaningful and realistic BL stories.
