He hasn’t even accepted her as his maid yet, and he doesn’t trust her. Judging from the situation, it looks like he’s doing this because he thinks she’s a spy. I recall on the novel spoilers thread it said that too. And considering his position, it’s certainly a risk if he’s found out now, because him being male puts him in danger. It’s obvious that there is nothing likable about him right now. I doubt anybody thinks he’s likable right now. (Unless they’re the type of person who loves cruel characters.) His character right now is dog shit. But it can’t be helped. He doesn’t trust anybody in the palace, though he’s fond of Tory, he still didn’t hesitate to kill her in the past after he found out about her....;; His relationship with FL hasn’t improved much either... Even though she’s been his maid for 2 years now.... he still drew the line that he hasn’t trusted her. He’ll only ever ‘trust’ her when he considers her ‘his.’

Regardless of his gender, he is still royalty. People know of him. Even if they don’t like him, they’d probably eliminate Larriet because she could be seen as a threat to the imperial family. If she has the guts to kill him, what’s saying she wouldn’t do that to the rest of the imperial family? Would be the thought process. If it was someone within the imperial family that killed him, they’d probably cover it up, but since she is an outsider, they wouldn’t hesitate. Also, considering how Prince Arnulf already questioned the what “goal of Belois” is... That would raise his suspicions that that was the goal all along. To kill a member of the imperial family. And then he’d discuss that with other members of the imperial family... then more speculating that the goal was to start from the bottom and then up... then how her family implanted her to do so yada yada... and then BAM! Family executed.
**SPOILERS BELOWWW**
she's technically royalty as well, since she's the previous emperor's child. her adoptive family planned a rebellion to make her the empress but it failed, and then she regressed back into time.
what i'm trying to say is, she could cultivate good feelings with him & lead him on, then after he kills his family, she can kill him too. kinda a shit move but yeah, revenge
i literally hate the fucking male lead. even if what he did in the past (killing her family) could be justified, why are we acting like that’s going to make a difference? he treats her like an OBJECT. he treats her like literal trash and even threatens her. what is oh so likeable about him? i just want her to get the hell away from him
