From what I know, it's pure coincidence that they look the same. But Johannes, Nora's Dad, the Duke, and the Emperor all used to be in love with the former Empress (Shuli Lookalike) And the Empress passed away rather quickly, and all of them loved her. Johannes had married Shuli because he saw that she had potential, she had calm demeanor, she learned fast and had her way with words. A perfect step-mother for his children so that she could become the head of house once he died instead of Jeremy, since Jeremy was still irrational. The Duke favors (not romantically) but like he sees the Empress in Shuli, so did Johannes and the Emperor, which is why all of them have a some-what soft spot for her, because it reminds them of their old days. Johannes and Shuli never had a romantic relationship of any sort. It was more like Savior and the person who was saved. They slept in separate rooms and only talked about the children, work, taxes etc. But Johannes thought that she even acted like the former empress as well. They had strong will power and never backed down from a fight and clung on to hope. Which is why he chose to rescue Shuli.

I was actually thinking along the lines of "shuli was a long lost daughter/sister of the empress and she's really super noble so others wont belittle her anymore" but this is much better since she doesnt really have to rely on blood ties for her to gain reputation and power. okay, first of all, this manhwa is super funny, and amazingly wholesome, and i loved this chapter. But can anyone please spoil me on the deal with shuli. why she resembles the late empress so much and why did johannes choose her and not literally anyone else. and what was the extent of her relationship with johannes and why does the emperor become silent when its her in question.
