um i honestly don’t understand this manhua, like when she first transmigrated the emperor didn’t like her and now all of a sudden he’s infatuated with her?? and why does she like him so easily too?? the character setting and plot just doesn’t make sense and it’s so conflicting. idk why this has such a high rating despite so many plot holes and parts that doesn’t make sense at all.

His contempt seems to have been largely mollified by her efforts to admit to her mistakes, right the wrongs of her past, and live a better life. It may also be that he loved her so deeply before, but had to censure and punish her when her behaviour grew too egregious because the repercussions were too chaotic, both inside the palace and in the larger world. Just some thoughts ...

The emperor did love the og mc when they first married but then he didnt like her because her personality and when the mc transmitted to become the current mc, he like the current mc's personality and fell in love again (they say first love is hard to forget so) so yeah he is in love with her now but didn't really realize it I guess?

no you’re absolutely correct, and he has even stated that, she did do evil things or shown her self in such evil state that he had no choice but to punish her, and now that she’s changed and better herself, he gave her chance and fell in love even deeper, he has always loved her.

no actually this is first historical manhua that actually has logical sense, if you read it closely, and analyze it all comes to a place, although i don’t know why she was even transmigrated.

He stated that outright later in the story progression, posted after the OP asked the question, but I think it was obvious from the way the Emperor treated her. If he had truly learned to hate her, there's no way she could've recovered from her downfall to this extent. She'd be pushed out.

yeah, but after her growth he definitely started trusting, and understanding her better. i like that tbh, with the way she was before or shown herself as that ( plus proofs ) i wouldn’t be able to love someone so horrible

Yeah, it's gratifying to read a story where higher consciousness realizations like mercy, wisdom and understanding are, at least, understood before the preoccupation with discipline and severity. It isn't really an atonement or redemption story because her soul transmigrated, but at least it doesn't have quite the degree of problematic elements that a lot of these Isekai-themed stories share. I mean, the whole concept of transmigration has problematic "magical solution" elements, and I would prefer that the original soul acquired self-realization and higher consciousness by experiencing consequences for her actions. I don't know why that theme isn't more popular instead.

Oops, I should also mention that I consider being stripped of power and prestige, and being imprisoned to be the first stage of experiencing consequences for one's actions. The next stage is the comeback as a better person. It's just that it isn't the original empress going through these stages.
