I feel ya. Stuff like that gets to me too. It's unfortunate but it's probably unintentional. Some Asian countries don't have a lot of context for what was used against blacks as racist caricatures. Though, there is a lot of colorism in Asian countries, so it could also be that too.
I wouldn't use Amit not being black as an example. Egypt went through a lot of wars and the rulers were Greek for several generations (the Ptolemaic Dynasty), followed by Romans, Arabs and Turks. That's why Egyptians today come in many different colors.

Right? There's another manga where the character is dark magic and dark skin because she was blessed by a GOOD dark spirit and she's treated horribly. I looked up spoilers and man it gets soooo much worse with the colorism gets at the end.

In the latest chapter her skin gets whitened but if you look at the raws her skin is dark again. I expect the next chapter will have her with dark skin once again

Yooooo, I've only made it to like chapter 5 but this comment took me tf out (⌒▽⌒). I think issa no for me, it is soooo cliche and then we adding a dash a racism, naw lol
what in the subconscious racist heck... so the only "Black" characters are gorillas who were enslaved and somehow the Egyptian modeled crocs are white in human form with dreads. #－.－)
